Re: 97_ODS_HRM_Loop Schematic Question

I have notice that even though the value might be the same the tone does change from brand to brand. Sprague’s are a bit “darker” and at the first stage this gets amplified through the whole circuit. From an engineering perspective, it would be good to understand why. Cool stuff, please continue!

Re: 97_ODS_HRM_Loop Schematic Question

Thanks so much for the responses about the amp features/Skyline/#102 and the link to the schematics. Questions: Will the high plate version give more headroom versus the low plate? Would you attribute the "stiffer" feel to the HRM circuit? To this point I have built up the power board which has the ...

97_ODS_HRM_Loop Schematic Question

Hello, I am building my first Dumble style amp after spending many years on the Trainwreck side of Tag site. I have procured the chassis, boards and parts. The schematic that I am following is: 97_ODS_HRM_Loop[1] which has the built in Dumbleator. What preamp is this based from? And would the author...

Pleasant Mistake on B+ voltage to V1 and V2

Hi Folks, I accidently place a 180K resistor after the B+3 node which consequently dropped the voltage to B+4 and B+5. (Express Build) So the plate voltages on V1 and V2 were 81, 88, and 115 VDC which is probably half of what they should be. The result of this mistake was actually pleasing. Some of ...

Re: Another Clip. Tried new things.

Hi Mark, I have been out of the loop with amp building the last year or so. Can you direct me to the link on this "cut control?"

Re: Another Clip. Tried new things.

(Express) I was looking for more bite and ended up turning the Presence totally off. 'Turns out there's plenty of highend left. It seemed to get rid of the washyness in my sound. I just never tried this because the control is there, but I guess it doesn't mean you need to use it. Sounds awesome! I ...

No Schematic

You can often avoid switching pops with use of 1M resistor. Can we see a schematic? @xtian - Unfortunately, I did not have a chance to write up a schematic but will do so in the nearest. I used a two LTPI's with post phase master volumes. I then installed a relay that toggles between the leads of t...

Dual phase inverter switching - Small pop

Hi Folks, Finished building a power amp that has two phase inverters both with it's own Master Volumes and share the common output stage. The idea is to use one PI at a time using a relay. The implementation is successful however there is a small "pop" when the relay is engaged and moves from PI1 to...

Building

FWIW, Amp building helped me to get through my deal.

I could have gone to the bar or go to the shop.

I went to the shop.

Helped me to keep my mind occupied and I built 4 amps over 1.5 year ordeal!!!

Different

Good read here! I've built the same amp many times. Each amp using the exact same components. Yet the amp tone was not 100% repeatable. While the basic foundation for the tone was similar, the detailed nuances can be very different. Today when I build an amp, I have accepted that each build will hav...
