Re: Pedal Mule 20 - Prototype build

Looks fantastic Gary. With my renovations coming to an end, I think I'm going to start sourcing parts for this build. The real question is 20 watts or 30 watts??

Re: Pedal Mule 20 - Prototype build

How clean is this amp? Do you get a lot of headroom before break up?

Re: Pedal Mule 30 - Prototype build

Ahh the star grounding from the filter board did the trick then, nicely done. I may have to give this build a try. I haven't built an amp in over a year now, too busy renovating my house. This might push me to make one :P .

Re: Pedal Mule 30 - Prototype build

Hi RJ, I'm always interested in the builds you are taking on. Glad you got this all worked out and I look forward to see more pictures and possibly some audio? :D

Re: Show off my new rebuild

Hah, love that buss wire as well. It looks like old coat hanger wire! Is it just hanging suspended by all the connections to it? Anyway, the rebuild looks great, congrats!

Re: New CG build. Smoking PT

Just wanted to resurrect this post, and thank everyone who gave some input. I talked with Ken at watts, and he stood behind that he hadn't seen a bad PT from heyboer in 10 years. I talked with Heyboer and they sent me a new one, at a reduced cost, which I was very thankful for. Blowing PT's can be a...

Re: New CG build. Smoking PT

Great advice Phil, thanks. Yeah there are a number of under board wires. I tried to get a look at them with a little mirror I have and they all seem to be in place. I had that happen on a rocket build, and what I've started to do is bend the wire at the very top of the turret so it can't "drop out."...

Re: New CG build. Smoking PT

Thought I'd update on my adventures with carmen ghia's. So I took the chassis and tubes over to a local Amp tech. This is purely a side hobby, so I don't have my own tube tester, etc. He checked the PT, and confirmed that it had gone the way of the dinosaurs. I got him to check the tubes, and they a...

Re: New CG build. Smoking PT

Ok here's some pictures as promised. I'd love someone just to take a look over things to see if I'm missing a glaring mistake. Forgive some of the lead dress, as this was a bit of a tight squeeze into the chassis, I know it could be better.

Re: New CG build. Smoking PT

This: http://www.classictone.net/40-18035.html Use a fuse on the B+----- find the reason the first PT failed, probably an output tube failure---- but could be a wiring fault----- if you just install the new PT in a defective amp all you will accomplish is to burn up the new PT. Yeah and that's my c...

Re: New CG build. Smoking PT

No, you aren't the first this has happened to... Sounds like something pulled way too much current and killed your PT, which I'd wager is gone. This is when you are thankful for B+ fuses. I'm guessing you just have one for the mains? Need to check those power section tubes. Yeah I just had o...
