Re: Workbench

Bench? Are you kidding? Ive got my amp cradle and soldering station perched precariously on an old 19-space rack case. All the tools, wire, etc are either in boxes next to the rack or on the base of the cradle. Not too good for the back but it works.

Re: teflon wire

I have Steve's solid teflon wire with the thin skin and I cannot use a normal stripper on it. (I don't have an electric one.) I have to use an exacto. It's worth the extra effort but I wish I had an electric during a build with it. I use Steve's teflon wire with a stripper with no problem. Just go ...

One of my first recording gigs out of audio school in the early 90s was recording Dion doing Christmas radio spots in south FL. Nice guy...really easy to work with.

Re: Help: Comparing 1/2 power Liverpool, T-Rex, 18 Watt TMB, etc

The fizziness in the EL84 wrecks is do to the cold biased PI. You can change that around for a warmer bias or play with snubbers. I was talking about wrecks in general, EL84 or EL34. From my limited experience playing them vs. Marshall types...that's tonal difference for me...wreck has more gain on...

Re: Help: Comparing 1/2 power Liverpool, T-Rex, 18 Watt TMB, etc

If you go to the Zounds section of 18watt.com and listen to the midatlantic ampfest clips, you can hear several 18w TMB builds. Yes, they can do the modern gain. You can add JA's mods to dial in even more. http://www.18watt.com/modules.php?name=zina&op=modload&file=index&p=Midatlantic_AmpFest The tr...

Re: Schematic symbols library for CorelDRAW

If you save it out to a legacy version (v10 or below), folks with Illustrator should be able to open the .cdr docs as well.

Re: Those nifty layout drawings

If using visio, a quick search will turn up some libraries to get you started on layouts or schematics. Here's one I found right off the bat:

Re: Those nifty layout drawings

I don't really get why you'd need a CAD or 3D app for a simple 2D layout. Layouts are just guidelines as to how things get connected. they don't need to be precise as far as scale goes. CAD would be more useful if you were designing a chassis to be cut/drilled and needed precise measurements. Eagle ...
