How do I go about buying one or two of those PC boards?
EDIT: on second thought, I'll just do it on stripboard.

Re: Masco MA-35 makeover
Very cool thanks a ton for posting that layout diagram, it looks like it can't be simpler. Is Mouser a good source for the MOSFET?

Re: Masco MA-35 makeover
I ordered some filter caps for the power supply, and I'm excited to get underway with this project. I'm cleaning the chassis up and gutting it while I wait for parts delivery and I'll post results as it progresses. A thought just occurred to my caffeine starved brain that I want to toss out here...s...

Re: Masco MA-35 makeover
Thanks for all the input, fellas. You guys are great. Martin, I had completely forgot about paralleling the two filaments in a 12AX7. I am a retired EE but I'm subject to brain cramps... So for filtering, should I be safe setting up the power supply like a Super Reverb or a Twin, with a couple of 70...

Re: Masco MA-35 makeover
I guess my main concern is that the circuit I'm putting together won't load the power supply like the original. I wish I knew what the 6L6 plate voltages were on the original amp. I'm doing away with the phase inverter, going to a more traditional design. I'll need a 12 volt filament transformer bec...

Re: Masco MA-35 makeover
Hope this works. It's a PDF of the schematic.
Note that all I'm going to use from this amp are the transformers and the choke.

Masco MA-35 makeover
Hi fellas, I don't know where to post this so I'll put it here. I am building a custom amp for a friend who has a Masco MA-35 amp as a donor. The amp uses a pair of 6L6 output tubes but from there back it's going to need a complete new front end. I'm going to do a Tweed Fenderish build with Vol, T,M...

Re: Hammond AO-35 due tomorrow!
I had no issues with hum. I did use shielded cable to run my input signal from the jack to the input stage, and for my PPIMV. Only connect one side of the shield to ground, at the control or input. Leave the shield open at the tube. It is a great sounding amp. Z did a fine job optimizing the circuit...

Another vote for Aleene's Tacky Glue. Works great, stays pliable.

Re: Priceless tube tester voltage weirdness
I'm suspecting oscillation too. Put an oscilloscope on the individual sockets and look for high frequency oscillation. A high impedance ac voltmeter would be nice here...do you have a VTVM? I see the original schematic doesn't have bypass caps on the plate of V1. Why did you add it to only one socke...

YEAH, BABY...My AO-35 conversion is rockin' the house!
ALL RIGHT!!! She's up and running. What a great sounding amp, and I give credit to Dr. Z, he was BRILLIANT in his implementation of the Twin T type tone control. He didn't load the circuit down with a big TMB type tone stack, he kept it real simple and retained the signal's integrity. A few other ch...

It lives and rocks!
It's up and running, sounds really, really good. I'm going to put in a PPIMV tomorrow, and I've gotta put in the grid stoppers too. But that little thing rocks...Dr. Z really implemented a fine tone control if it is the same one that he uses in the Carmen Ghia. Very effective. Some guys have put in ...

Re: Hammond AO-35 due tomorrow!
Got the holes drilled for the front panel, mounted the fuse holder, switch, and power light.
The tone control is wired, and now I've gotta do the PI and install the PPIVMV...by this time tomorrow I should have an operational amp.

Re: Hammond AO-35 due tomorrow!
I got the amp this afternoon, it's super clean and has all original tubes. All marked "Hammond" and made in Holland and USA. Very cool! I'm going to reform the caps first, then bring it up and see if she'll work. I expect it will, then I can decide which schematic to begin following...there seems to...
