Re: Fuchs Dumble Clone
It is funny how people who have based their entire careers on copying Dumble's amps love to talk shit about the guy. Pathetic. CW Thanks for the question Charlie. Happy to clarify. It means the intent of my original post was to elicit meaningful discussion around the ethics of creating and selling ...

Re: Fuchs Dumble Clone
I wonder if Andy did that so that others wouldn't. He also owns the dumble.com domain name. If someone has to control these things it might not be so bad for Dumble that it's Andy. I'm not sure any harm comes to Dumble or his business by folks making clones. Is there an argument that the cost for a ...

Fuchs Dumble Clone
Seems like aesthtically accurate Dumble clones are acceptable now. Haters need not reply. I have respect for Andy and if he considers this acceptable then it probably is. Hoping he weighs in with his perspective. I'd like to understand where the leaders in this community think the line-not-to-be-cro...

Re: Amp Porn
Look at the pics of the amp I posted. I've replaced the wire from the relay board to the preamp board heading to OD1 with an .022 cap. That cuts some bass in OD without attenuating the bass on the clean channel. I forget who suggested this mod, but I picked it up here on the forum. Might have been G...

Re: Amp Porn
1 Why did you decide to go with all or mostly 220P Di-Films? I think the early PS series caps were paper/mylar and was interested to see if there was some magic there. 2 Do you notice a difference when you went with NOS CTS Pots and can you describe the difference from say an Alpha or newer CTS? I t...

390pf 630v BC film treble cap
Drive control on OD1 and trimpot on OD 2. I know the ratio I want between OD1 & 2, but adjust the input to OD1 based upon the gain of CL2. More better.

Re: Amp Porn
Thanks for sharing, Tony. Lots of very cool parts. Here's a 124ish with a board on the side that I can change the tone stack values by paralleling caps. The little tines are soldered together to make the connection. I put a slope control in the FET hole. 63425363638__451B8CB6-B032-4FAF-8562-091B495C...

Re: What build for these transformers?
I would build that exactly like a Twin Reverb and then put four 6V6s in it. About 400V on the plates. PPP 6V6s @ 400V are very happy at 4K plate load.

Re: Bassman 50 power tube socket problem
If you lift the 3k3 resistor from the bias supply board to the bias pot (doesn't matter which side) and then power up the amp without tubes in, you should have no voltage anywhere on your output tube grid circuit. If you've got positive voltage that means one (or both) of your phase inverter couplin...

Re: Recommendation for what values to start with for post-OD treble bleed mod?
I'm using 390P and 100K in a 124. Keep in mind all amps sound bright by themselves and more balanced once you get up on stage and in a mix. I remember how bright Robben Ford sounded live the last few times I saw him. I think 102 is supposed to be bright. A bright on clean switch is another good solu...
