Re: Robben Ford's new amp and speaker
Robben wanted a completely different sound from before, that's why he's not singing on this track too. He wanted a rock tone to go with the rock vocalist. I'm starting to wonder if Tino is getting some kickbacks from Bradbury, because he basically layed out every Little Walter amp.

Isn't it just a few parts off of a plexi? why not go that route?

Re: POD MULE
What about using an organ power amp, or possibly a tube pa like a bogen? would probably need next to no modding and cheap as could be.

Re: Head/ Cab woodwork advice
Another thing not mentioned here, probably cause it might be too obvious is room to work. If you don't have much space to work in sawhorses and a skilsaw are much more effective than a table saw. It takes a lot of space and manpower to move plywood around to cut. You could make the router table out ...

Re: I've been bequeathed a 1964 5F1 Champ
Very sorry to hear, I lost my Dad 14 years ago this week. I would sit on the amp for awhile and heal, then you will be able to go slow and appreciate the small things without as much pain while fixing and playing the amp. Maybe a year from now, or towards when his next birthday would be you could fi...

Another one to try would be 12a6's, probably get 7-10 watts out of it,,,, super cheap tubes.

Re: Here's one for you guys
I think the snob in me is coming out as I feel disappointed about it being Timbuk 3's amp instead of maybe Los Lobo's or Eric Johnsons, etc. Its like seeing a vintage strat at a show only to find it was only strummed without being plugged in by Tiny Tim or something :S

Re: I think I bought a Dumble....
Would love to hear clips, bet its a beauty!! Jelle has already said it was basically stock with some caps changed to orange drops- its not like the deluxe is a real intricate circuit. The oxford is most likely the original speaker so my guess is the amp was probably modded on the fly to suit the amp...

Re: Hammond Transformers--Old vs New
I have an old 1650 something from the mid- late 60's that is supposedly only a 60 watt transformer but its huge- its bigger than that edcor in your SSS, David. The lam stack must be close to 3 inches thick, going by memory. It makes the Hammond iron in my 69 Garnet Pro look small, and that amp proba...

Re: Fender 5b6 preamp
I bet it sounds great! Wonder how good it would work running a stereo setup of the preamp using the other triodes one channel sent to the amp, other to the p.a., etc.

Re: Fender 5b6 preamp
Mark,
Wondering why you don't just use a single 6sl7 since your only using 1 triode out of both tubes? You could probably use a lot smaller power supply caps because of the low current.

Re: Radio Shack 273-1365 xfmr
A few years ago when Radio Shack sold off most of their electronic parts to liquidators up here, a liquidation store I would frequent had 3 big bins of parts. I picked up a few grocery size bags of parts. I just went and checked and I must have at least a dozen of those transformers still packaged u...

Re: 807 Beer Beam Power Tube
The ones from Holland definitely have a different flavour than the British ones, the American ones sound like crap and not a lot of power, and the Canadian ones are very nice but like to run colder than the European ones
