Re: Small Special Build...Sort of...

Thanks for the feedback TicTac. I've never worked with LNFB before. My intent was to remove the feedback from the PI so the dirty channel wouldn't have nfb, but wanted to try and keep some on the small special side, I just wasn't sure how to approach it.

Small Special Build...Sort of...

I've been wanting to build a small special for some time now. I'm in love with the clean tone from the Bill Frisell video floating around on another Small Special build thread. However I also have a special place in my heart for the 18watt style amps since they were the first amps I started building...

Re: Faceplates from Ponoko

I forgot to mention their base templates are available for inkscape which is a free vector graphics application so you don't have to shell out the cash for adobe illustrator.

Faceplates from Ponoko

Has anyone used http://www.ponoko.com for faceplates? I recently found this site and decided to give them a try. They give you templates you can use to design your own items to engrave I chose to make a faceplate of course. They have various materials to choose from plastic, wood , etc in various si...

Re: My Liverpool Experiment

Thanks guys. At higher gain settings it can be fizzy sounding. Someone on a different described the sound i'm hearing perfect, it sounds like the fizz is sitting "on top" of the notes. Do you guys think bringing it down to 70-80% idle will help? It could be the speakers too, I'm currently running it...

Re: My Liverpool Experiment

Re: My Liverpool Experiment

These are the numbers and math I used. Its very possible I messed this up: V4 Resistance CT to Plate = 47.5 ohms Voltage Drop = 3.6 Plate Current V/R = 3.6/47.5 = 0.0757 Plate Voltage 328 Plate Voltage * Plate Current = 328 x 0.0757 = 24.8296 On the links above the "bias" one is my calculations for ...

My Liverpool Experiment

I wanted to share this build and progress so far. I was going to build a straight up Liverpool but decided to experiment some. This build has the Liverpool power section along with another Ken Fischer inspired preamp, the one with the split plate resistors. So far i'm pretty happy the way it came out...

Re: Liverpool Transformer Questions

This build is still in the works. However I decided to venture of the path of a standard Liverpool build. I'm trying an experiment I'm using a liverpool power section and another KF inspired preamp, the one with the split plate resistors. I'm hoping to have it done in a few weeks as time allows.

Liverpool Transformer Questions

I'm considering a Liverpool build and have a Pacific PT and OT for an express. Does the Express and Liverpool use the same transformers? If so would i use the 280V or 250V primaries? Also for the OT would the 6k6 be ok considering many quad el84 use around 4k? I've read a few things during my resear...

Re: Other Builds using Pacific Transformers

Thanks Joe. I'd like to hear more about that build. I'm assuming you just used a solid state rectifier rather then having both tube and ss since there's no 5v on that transformer? Also how did it work out with the 280v on the secondaries vs the 321 i see in the schematic?
