Re: Steel String Singer #001/#002/#004 Layout/Schematics

@ rccolgan -- really nice job on this project!! Having dissected and built several SSS's over the years, I can tell that you really went deep into this one and did a great job. Congrats.

Re: Guitar Gallery Thread! Post 'em up!

Here’s one that I built a while back that is now my favorite strat. I got the flame maple/Brazilian rosewood/clay dot neck from Musikraft and had to build a pretty guitar around it. SRV meets CAR.

Re: Overdrive Deluxe - Fake?

I really don't want to hijack the Overdrive Deluxe thread to talk about Flying High's ultraphonix, but it looks to be the same circuit as the UP pictured below that sold on ebay a few years back. The bass channel seems to be very Marshall'ish.

Re: Why not switch OD & PAB at once?

Regarding your initial question, I make “ganged” OD&PAB switchable on the footswitch using a mini-switch. I use a DPDT footswitch on the OD using one half to switch the channel and using the other half to create a second ground that disengages when OD is off. Then, I use the mini switch to switch be...

Re: Friedman Dirty Shirley thoughts.

It's hard to make out but you can see one positive lead of the internal f&t cap is wired to ground. The 470k won't affect the "balance" at all, it just drops the PI input impedance down to a bit less than 1M (from 2M), so it will move that corner freq up an octave and load down the preceding circui...

Re: Friedman Dirty Shirley thoughts.

What's the deal with the Phase inverter? Where you normally see 1M-470R-1M, the DS has 470k-470R-1M. I haven't played with this type of setup, does anyone know the effect of putting it "off balance" like that?

Re: Hole in celestion blue cone

I've used watered down Elmer's to make patches with soaked pieces of paper towel. If you have enough paper to glue, just use the Elmer's. Otherwise, you could make s small patch. That being said, I'd get some money back or send it back rather that fuss with it, especially if resale is a potential.

Re: PAYPAL Users Beware

In hind sight, I guess I'm just lucky that I'm not John Mayer selling a Dumble through Maverick Music (for a $100k+ loss). Mike I'd say it likely hurt you financially a lot more losing the amp you sold than John losing the Dumble :P ~Phil You're probably right! Either way, I hate to see the bad guy...
