Re: This forum - too much attitude lately.
A short time ago, a newbie asked about the schematic for an amp ... and didn't "introduce himself" properly. He got ripped apart by some of the folks here. It seems he didn't offer the secret handshake or something. Currently, there is a thread in which Dave Funk seems to have stepped on a landmine...

Re: AC30 build with spare parts
A big resistor is not the same as a choke. A choke has inductance, which removes AC ripple from the B+ supply. A big resistor is a simple voltage divider (reducer in this case). You need the choke to get the vibe. Even a smaller choke, maybe 5H-10H instead of the 15H would be better than no choke. ...

We are not building "Real" Trainwrecks. What we are building are Trainwreck clones. Gary Thank you Gary, We are a new generation of amp builders with materials and information that Ken Fisher didn't have. In building a Trainwreck amp he could well say the same thing about us. Ken Fishers genius was...

Talk to Patrick at Mercury Magnetics... he has many great Ken Fisher stories.Lousyatit wrote:Is there any evidence that Mr.Fischer used Mercury Magnetics trannies in his later builds?
No doubt KF & MM partnered at various points.

Does anybody have info on what the right resistor and capacitor values are to use with 6V6 tubes?

Re: Building a Rocket - Layout Check for group build
A couple questions. Is it possible to mount the VVR pot on the back panel? I got one of Lonely Ravens nice wood front panels with my Rocket parts and I would like to leave the face panel alone. The VVR sounds like a cool idea. If it doesn't change the tone then could you just hard wire in a few spec...

New Guy
Hello Everybody. A friend told me about this forum and I am here to check it out. It looks like you have a lot of good info. I am an experienced amp builder. I learned from an old guy who was around in the golden days of tubes. I like to build my own designs, but I have learned a lot from fixing Fen...
