Re: Building Trainwreck Amp as first amp
My first amp was an Express. Turned out great. Then I built a ODS with channel switching. You can do it.

Re: Repurposing Trainwreck iron?
I built a 4 6V6 amp using the Trainwreck iron and it turned out great! Copied the cowtipper front end (AB763) with a on board three knob reverb.

Don't forget the 47pf cap across the 82K and 100K in the PI. Might help with the sizzle!

Re: Help with a squeal, Please.
bcmat,
My wreck will squeal if it is out of the head box. Have you tried the amp with the back on? Shield and cover that back area and see if that helps.
Good luck and Happy New Year!

Re: rocket clips
John,
Thanks for sharing the clips. I think they sound great. If I wasn't so freakin busy I would post some clips of mine. I am going to have to try your setup. I always run the volume around 2pm, treble at 11am, Bass at 9am and Cut at noon.
Paul did a great Job on that amp.

Re: Tips for increasing bass crunch
+1 on the above suggestions.
Regarding grounds, don't forget the to ground the speaker jack! I used the isolated jacks and chased a hum for a few days myself before I figured it out.
If you can post some pics.

Re: VIDEOS - 5E5A Orange drops to Jupiter Tone caps
I am not doubting the value of a cap change but in the Strat clip I think you would notice a bigger change in tone just from the different placement of the amp, i.e. the floor as opposed to camera level. Plus it appears that the second clip (strat w/Jupitor caps) has more volume. Was the amp set exa...
