Re: Spectrum/THD using FFT on Siglent scope

The first plot sort of indicates a 90dB max signal to noise floor capability? Can the x and y axis be set up for typical division sizes, or do you have to rely on cursor settings? Can harmonic levels also be displayed in % of fundamental? Have they updated firmware/capabilities over the years? With...

Re: Spectrum/THD using FFT on Siglent scope

The first image is a screen capture direct to a usb stick which you can plug into the front of the scope. The second, which doesnt look as nice was taken with a handheld camera. Note that Keysight has different versions of this scope. Make sure you get the one with the internal function generator ot...

Re: Spectrum/THD using FFT on Siglent scope

A few years ago I researched all of the lower cost scopes. I settled on a Keysight DSOX1102G as it seems to produce acceptable FFT plots while staying within my budget. It has a built in function generator, and also generates Bode frequency/phase plots. Perfect for quickly testing audio devices. Unf...

Re: Garage Sale Find: 44 Vintage Tubes

The 6L6WGBs are North American made and they are more commonly known as 5881s. They are almost identical to the ones made by Tung-Sol, and they are excellent rugged tubes. I have a bunch of these that I pulled out of an old Canadian military flight simulator, circa 1950s and they look the same as yo...

Re: Hammond AO-35 due tomorrow!

Wow, that was a lightning fast reply. Thanks for the info. I'm not going to use the PPIMV initially, but the rest of my layout will look similar to yours. I am going to put the fuse up front though. As well, I will rewire the ground circuitry with two star ground points.

Re: Hammond AO-35 due tomorrow!

I just picked up one of these chassis. It hums a lot so I think it is going to need an electrolytic recap job first. I'm going to do the Ghia conversion. Premiumplus, M Fowler, You guys did a nice job converting your amps. Before I start drilling holes, did you guys get any hum issues with mounting ...

Re: Uncovered Guitar Effects & PA System Components ~ Need H

Some of those pedals you have might be worth checking into. You could almost buy yourself a small amp kit with the money you'd get from the DM-2 alone. Chappy Good to know. They are worth checking on. A DM-2 sold for over $400 and mine is mint. Wonder why the older effects are worth so much? Everyb...

Re: Plate wiggler

How about a photoresistor (light dependent resistor) controlled by a low frequency oscillator driving a light bulb. IIRC the Univibe guitar effect pedal (Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower) used these in the phasing part of the circuit. Seems like the one in the link below has a high enough voltage rating t...

Re: About Moss of Brown Note

It's too bad he is having issues. I really liked his site when I first saw it 4 or 5 years ago. It looked like he had a real good thing going. IIRC he was quite active in the 18Watt community and had a good following there at the time.

Re: About Moss of Brown Note

Has anyone heard from Moss??? Thank you for reviving this thread. I am seriously thinking about an ODS build right now and I was going to buy a kit from Brownote to save me the hassle of scrounging up all of the parts. You just saved me a bunch of cash and/or heartache. Beer is on me if we ever cro...
