Re: Advice on best 1x12 speaker
I agree the G12-65 is the way to go here, even in a 1 x 12 configuration. That's what I use with my 50W #102.

Re: Any experience of this PC interface oscilloscope?
It looks pretty good to me.
Can't see any risk in blowing up your computer as all HV interfacing is contained within this external unit. There's only a USB interface to the computer.
No idea how it performs though but I'd be surprised if it were rubbish.

Re: For UK and EU Dlator builders - a great rack case!
I live in the UK and used this company for my D style head and matching speaker cab. I've since used the same company for other speaker / amp cabs and rate them very highly. http://afcustomcabinets.weebly.com/ They'll build to your specs, see pics on site for examples. Reasonable prices if you are U...

Q
I've tried the mid cap switch and LNFB On/ Off. Out of those two, the mid cap had the biggest and most positive impact. My view is that the high plate skyliner is too clean and mid heavy for a Strat. I have a Holland Lil' Jimi that has a very simple 100k plate load single tube preamp stage and it ab...

Re: Ceriatone HRM 50 - what do the internal trimmers do?
The Trimmer shown is the standard 250K fed from a 100K resistor. If there is an external panel pot for adjusting the OD - either it's been placed in series with the above trimmer of the above trimmer is not actually in circuit any more? If you have the 2 pots in series then I'd say that the total re...

Re: Dumble Overdrive Special to be reviewed in Premier Guitar
Hi Bryan Thanks for the video link, appreciate it a lot. One thing jumped out to me - the clips that are titled "clean" sound anything but clean to me - especially the Humbucker Guitars used before you got to the Strat? The title then changes to Overdrive Switch - can clearly here the OD on that - b...

I've used AF Custom Cabs a few times now, their work is very good and well priced...however, they are U.K based.

Re: Holland Little Jimi - Power amp Bias Issue
Amp now cooking again, thanks Martin. The issue was indeed a broken connection to ground although having looked at the layout again I discovered that there was a voltage divider that fed the adjustable bias tube. This had broken free from it's fixing, resoldered and now good. I don't quite understan...

Re: Holland Little Jimi - Power amp Bias Issue
Thanks Martin, your description of the circuit is spot on. I'll double check the continuity on the tail resistor which I think is standard 27k Fender type value. Sounds like a plausible cause. I bought the amp 2nd hand, not sure how it ended up in UK as I've never seen a distributor over here that h...

Holland Little Jimi - Power amp Bias Issue
I've had this amp for nearly 2 years but I guess it's around 15 years old. It looks to be very Fender influenced and certainly the power amp stage is standard Blacface with 2 x 6l6. Over the time that I've had it, the sound quality deteriorated (distortion apparent on trailing end of notes played). ...

Re: Matt Schofield and his Two Rock Sig
I really don't think that Matts "tone" is solely because of that amp. I spoke to his guitar / amp tech (Simon Law) after a gig where he used that amp and Simon said that it was basically a Bassman with a few tweaks. To my ears, Matts tone has been very similar for a number of years during which he h...

Hi Rog
I'm UK based and have used Antique Electronics in the states:

I can't tell if you they do everything but they carry many of the bits that you require and I have been impressed by the speed at which they turnaround and ship to UK.

Re: switching the slope and mid cap
In a slightly different vein: some of Mike Holland's amps had a Sweep control, a variable slope resistor, designed as way to match tone stack frequency response to different pickups. He blocked DC first with a large cap -- maybe .047 or .1 -- then set up the tone stack as usual, except the slope re...
