Mark, Hows your second Z-Wreck looking? Have you tried a different choke?

If I'm not happy with the way this build sounds I'll turn it into a Rocket. You can never go wrong with a Rocket!

Z wreck Differences to the Rocket are, 1. V1 signal cap to volume pot is 470pf ceramic disc, Treble cap in tone stack is 47pf. 2. The 220k/220k voltage divider exiting the tone stack into the PI. 3. Long tail section - 976k R's instead of 1M, 47.5K R instead of 47K. 4. 250uf bias cap for power tubes...

A friend who works at a local music store has a Z-wreck on order and will let me know when it arrives so I can test drive it.

Curious to know if anyone is using vintage Jensen P12N with their Rocket?

I've been using a 2X12 closed back cabinet with the Jensen's for the last year or so for live gigs and single 1X12 for recording.

The Hammond conversion ...Thanks for the useful information! I'll post some voltage readings when I get a chance. I'm real happy with the way the amp sounds. No hum or buzz with a Les Paul. I have not tried single coils yet. Here are some pics. :D B+ is 390V.... GZ34 Rectifier EL84's are Russian 6n1...
