Re: An HRM I like - And just how much do I like it?

Andy Yeah it is a D-style amp without all the switching on the front. The Derringer has the 4 6V's Mercury Mag Tranny's..etc.. Pretty much a straight HRM.... Sorry I won't be able to make the show. Brooks and Dunn are in Baltimore both Lou Toomey and Tony king are playing VVT's now pretty cool so am...

Re: An HRM I like - And just how much do I like it?

Amen Andy This is why we decided to go with the HRM in our PC board designs, gives the player more room for tweeking the OD tone.. I like the Non HRM's better with humbuckers and the HRM's better for Strats & lower gain single coils.. There is no accounting for taste... Andy will you be @ the Jersey...

Re: Looking for tube reliability input

heisthl WOW!!! that's a good one!!!! I use DHL for my overseas shipments.. and so far have not had to file a claim (knock on wood). We use the instapak forming bags work great but cost's us $50.00 in packing material to ship our Fralin Model amp.. . Tony VVT

Re: Dumbleland tone from a D'Lite kit?

Lets see :? I wonder if a Dlite with 2 6V's will give me roughly same tone as a Dumbleland w/4 6550's. Answer not even close. Not even if you built a Dumbleland and loaded it with 4 or 8 6V's would it be the same. Stevie liked Big clean compressed lowend bloom tone just the opposite of what 6V's pro...

It's basicially a Hybrid A no loop Fender power Marshall output 100 watts. I would post some gut shots accept its kind of a pain to get out of the cabinet Big transformers...

Re: John Mayers Tone

I also couldn't agree more. I have had friends of mine who are unbelieveable players, pickup guitars I wouldn't spit on and plug into a Peavey POS solid state amp, spend 5 min turning pot's with no knobs and out pours wonderful music. I believe tone is produced in 3rds. 1st most important are hands,...

Re: Output tubes drawing different currents

Don't get me wrong I am all for independent bias pots for output tubes. I put them in all of my personal builds, especially if you like to use NOS stuff you can squeeze every bit of life out of them. Sorry if I offended anyone with the Cobain reference I read in an interview with him that he had one...

Re: Output tubes drawing different currents

Who was it that came up with the idea that mismatched output tubes sound good. Try it you might like the tone of mismatched output tubes. Yeah maybe if you are Kurt Cobain and don't really care about how you sound.
