Re: Remember that pedal page? Dumbleator added, clip

Did you notice your mid pot is in the wrong place, or did you wire it that way on purpose?

Re: Does Anyone Else NOT use the Clean Master?

For a Boogiesque type of distortion I agree you need to crank up the clean preamp which is fine if your only playing distorted. But if you want to switch between clean and distorted it doesn't work too well. (at least on my amp) I like to set my amp up for a good clean tone which means some midrange...

Re: I had a dream

I've rebuilt a Mesa Blue Angel to Rocket specs but with the Liverpool tone circuit and reverb. What a great sounding amp! :P The 500pf bright cap is important. smaller values don't give you enough high mids. Also the filtering as per the Rocket circuit is a big part of the tone and dynamics. I'm usi...

Does Anyone Else NOT use the Clean Master?

I always keep mine full on, I'm thinking about hardwiring the clean preamp out and using the pot as a tone control for the OD channel.

I don't like the long leads to the Clean Master pot either. I get oscillation if I don't keep the lead dress just right, maybe It'll improve the tone too.

The FET circuit: Any alternatives? what do you use?

I've built the FET circuit exactly as the schematics from the WEB. Mine works but it's kinda farts sounding at best.

Does anyone have any alternative circuits that work well? I've thought maybe a minibooster circuit would work well here...

Re: Angel's Breath

The 12AT7 stuff is news to me, only heard about the power amp and the Tweed Deluxe Like statement...

It is kind of a cool name though...

Re: Components?

the 225's are the cheaper polyester Odrops, I like the 716 ODrops they're an ugraded 715 ODrop, polyester with copper lead instead of steel ones.

I've built one, it's my favorite amp

I used a PT from Allen Amps (the one he's got for his 6v6 type kits) It has extra amperage capacity on thte 6.3v heater tap so yo can plug in 6L6's without stressing the PT. The OT is from Obsolete Electrnics. It's their 2 x EL84 tranny which works great for 6V6's as well. I bought a Delft handwound...

Angel's Breath

Anyone have any info on the infamous "Angel's Breath" amp?

It was reported to be a Tweed Deluxe type of amp with a cathode biased 6L6 power amp and some sort of "guitar tone enhancing" circuit in the preamp. (isn't that called a "tube"?)

Just wondering if anyone had heard of this curiosity...

Screen resistors 470 ohms or 1K: What do you Prefer?

470 ohm 70's amp spec. 1K more protection. I've built an ODS and I'm using 470 ohm screen resistors. Lost a NOS GE the other day when breaking in the amp. Haven't even cranked it yet. (the power amp that is) Thought maybe a 1K would be a better choice for a bit more protection. I've got 470V on the ...

2 Questions from New Member

Howdy All, Just trying to find my way around in here. There are a few terms I've never heard before. 1) What is HRM? 2) And someone made reference to a file schematic from Bob I that contained a reverb circuit. Is that posted here in the schematics section or on another website? Thanks for the help,...
