Re: SE pehaps another approach
Thanks man coming from you Mr Sluckey It's a way out. It will squish without a tube rectifier. I just know the circuit sounds good and see people here wanting to use Big Tubes in Se. Champ 12 has too much going on with the signal input to the 6L6 for me to understand. ( and get it correct ) Have a n...

SE pehaps another approach
I'm not smart enough to do this. But people here are. I own a Pure stock Champ 12 original tubes. Voltage doubling running screen half plate voltage. Ab 763 preamp. Clean but sounds so great. A sound of it's own super nice harmonic content. Approx 5k output transformer. Luv ya'll at tAG give it a lo...

Re: Reduced Ac line voltage and tube rectifier filament voltages
We are seeing about 2 to 3 volts less than expected with our line buckers. The transfomers we used are not the Organ brand name. They are off shore 12.6 volt ct. Listed as 117 volt input. 4 amp But the data sheet say 115 volt input 4 amp iirc Using tramsformers spec'd at 115 volts input on 120 to 12...

Re: Reduced Ac line voltage and tube rectifier filament voltages
Thank you very much Martin Manning Why indeed, I do now see on GE 5ar4 tube data sheet, the 10 percent plus / minus 5 volt heater tolerance spec. Two Falcons 5y3 and a Deluxe Reverb gz34 mid 1960's are not my amps. It was my suggestion to build keen buckers. Later it became a concerned about low fil...

Reduced Ac line voltage and tube rectifier filament voltages
Data sheets for tube rectifiers spec the filament - heater voltage. 5 volts for one example. With reduced Ac line voltages, when is a voltage lower than 5 volts to where it becomes a concern as to proper function of the tube rectifier. Is 4.7 or 4.3 volts ac going to lend to arcing or malfunction ca...

Re: Ab568 with cathode resistors update
Update on this ab568 Super Reverb Amp Thread.
An intermittent connection. Cracked solder on the
brass ground plate
Tech said amp sounds good.
No modifications will be done.
Thank you guys for your help He said!
He appreciated ya'll helping and not to mod info.

Re: Ab568 with cathode resistors
Thanks pdf64 for the interesting information. Very helpful ! Appreciate you chiming in. Really does make a person wonder why CBS implemented the additional cathode resistors and capacitors to the output section in that run/era of amplifiers. Who really knows for sure except Leo and his team on the e...

Re: Ab568 with cathode resistors
Shuckey and Stevem, I appreciate the great responses.
Very well explained, helpful, and I'll pass this information
along to the tech. The SR is in pristine condition looks wise.
With y'alls help, keep the circuit as stock as possible too.
I will Report back on this amplifier outcome. Thanks again.

Ab568 with cathode resistors
Has anyone restored reapaired or played a Fender ab568 2 6L6 amp? This ab568 super reverb has the 2 150 ohm 7 watt resistors ground to cathode. This is a cathode and fixed bias setup. Paul C designed a amp for heritage with cathode and fixed bias. He says you get chime at lower volume, then fixed bi...
