Re: New Project
Hello -- My project is a single ended amp, so no PI. I don't know if I'll miss it since the Dumble power amp is pretty much a clean Hi-Fi type. It's a bit of an experiment, so I'll just have to see how it turns out. The preamp is a copy of my 100W low-plate, so it will be interesting to see how much...

Re: Can I use a Bassman 70watts PT and OT for a Deluxe reverb?
Hello — The simple answer to your question should be clear by now. Nope. Looking for a not-too-loud and early break-up sound. Buy a Deluxe or Princeton transformer set, plus a Princeton or Deluxe chassis; and follow more or less directly Martin Manning’s Deluxe build thread. Depending on goals and f...

Re: Heater Wires - Elevate or Twist?
Series connected pairs run well on 12.6V.

Re: Restoring a 1974 Deluxe Reverb - Seeking Advice
What is the ‘D’ node voltage with V1/V2 & V4 pulled? While sockets are empty can you add a static load temporarily to ‘D’ with 5W resistor at reasonable value (Ohm’s law) to hit a current target of ~10mA? What’s the voltage loaded? The goal being, 100% confirm "load" weakness somewhere in and around...

Re: Lowering B+ on Single ended amp with Choke input
Hello Guy -- Recommend you get set up to run simulation using http://www.duncanamps.com/psud2/ . A bit of learning effort. However, in my experience quite accurate and much easier to learn than Spice or other similar general tools. And yes, it's possible to both reduce voltage and improve B+ stabili...

Doubtless touch and go off topic for this spot, but no other alternative seemed obviously better.

Exactly so ..martin manning wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 8:59 am Still don't understand why the preamp voltages are so high when the OT C voltage is pretty much spot-on. Is the value of the dropping resistor between B and C ok? C is also quite a bit high.
