Re: Any magic in the Paraphase inverter?
Hello Dave -- Any magic in the 5E9's paraphase PI that I *must* have, or just go with the usual Long-tailed Pair? I plan to run 5881s and 6L6s in the amp. Retrofitting the PI drawn from 5E9 into a Mission kit-build 5E3 was, for me, revelatory. In the end, settled in with essentially stock 5e9 preamp...

IANL in litigating physics realm, but is law "zero"? Mildly bemused, as usual.

Re: Taming amp gain in single channel deluxe reverb build
Thanks Ian --
Makes sense with your explanation. I'd asked mostly out of pure curiosity. However, few possible additions/tweaks from the Dumble recipe book might increase utility and novelty but leave that to you for further thought.

Re: Taming amp gain in single channel deluxe reverb build
Hello Ian — Well, I bit. The transformer actually is off on all the holes by about a 1/4” so I’m probably gonna have to move it over to make it work, but when I started reading about it, it sounded like it would be more utilitarian for my kid. If it were mine I would just keep it as is.. Anyway. Tha...

Re: Broken 5E3 for sale locally - worth checking out?
Hello -- Can you clarify which supplier of kit they used. If it is "premium" (e.g., Trinity Tweed) and you can roughly confirm any problems are assembly errors with nothing damaged but some 6V6 vs junk parts, $800 is about the threshold of reasonable pricing. https://www.trinityamps.com/product/twee...

Re: Taming amp gain in single channel deluxe reverb build
Hello again -- Hello -- Wondering what type of tube is presently installed in the PI position? Either V4 or V6 depending on reference schematic. Best .. Ian Ian! My dear old friend Ian McClagan would say "Us Ian's gotta stick together!" so passing that down the line in his honor. I have 2 old stock ...

Re: Stereo Ampifier?
No 'half-wave" -- Output of each PI triode is a full wave, just that they have inverted relationship; and it's the power stage that due to bias etc that divides the work into AB push-pull ..

Re: Testing power supply before completion
helo -- Thank you clarifying my posting Martin. I do this only occasionally, and still perhaps more often than really necessary. Since a few usefully sized power supply dummy-loads are there in my toolbox, it takes just a moment to clip in and test voltages and more before moving on. If the schemati...

Re: Stereo Ampifier?
Helo --
Gibson built stereo guitars, and to accompany also made the GA-83S Stereo-Vib and the GA-79RVT. Magnatone after the 480 etc., also built the M14, M15 and M15a in the mid '60s.
Curious, like others here, what you meant by "feed a speaker a half-wave signal".

Re: Testing power supply before completion
Hello -- Testing is doable and recommended. A suitable dummy-load power resistor is needed. As an example, for testing mid-level Wattage amps that have a single conventional tube rectifier socket I cobbled an octal plug with a string of small power resistors, as shown here in the first post of :: ta...

I haven't even started yet but I wish to start soon. I've checked the Rocket files page but it seemed like the files and infos are quite old. I have tried e-mailing rj but I got no responses. Thanks for the reply btw The era when RJ and others were actively supplying and supporting Trainwreck repro...

:x Atypical brevity sir .. I apologize. I didn't mean that as a reaction to your post. I just got frustrated trying to do the full YouTubes thing. Big fingers little phone Was curious, now simply sympathetic. This board web interface is not small screen friendly though better than tapatalk's apps. ..
