Re: Supro build and cermaic caps or?
I built a few Supro Thunderbolt clones (using original Valco 5k OTs from Wards Airline carcass's) and used Vishay/Cera-mite 564R ceramics throughout...stuck w/ original filtering scheme. We called them Thunderchickens. A friend of mine has them as says 'they are best sounding JTM45s he ever heard' :...

Re: Post Phase Inverter Cathode Follower - Pointless in anything under 100W?
Pointless. It's the more pertinent comment ever seen in a thread. Talking about a power amp, the text feedbacks to itself throught the description of itself until subject, adjective and object complement merge into one single entity.  I would elborate....but it would be..........poin...

Re: Need schematic drawing program
The tech I had doing my schematics graduated school and took a job out of town , I have no access to his schools computer and program. So....he's still alive? Have you tried contacting him? I cannot believe you had him do that kind of work for you, and not give you the source files (YOUR IP), and k...

Re: Copper pour as shield
I agree w/ all the above, but w/ regards to oscillation prevention.....no amount copper between adjacent traces that are of the same phase will stop them from oscillating (given that one is amplified from the other). One thing I always do is crosscheck between sch and pcb, all nets that are same pha...

AllPCB has a US rep in FL https://www.allpcb.com/contact_us.html A former client of mine that designs research instrumentation used them. I just incorporated this very circuit into a piece of amp production equipment (to toggle amps on burn-in rack to monitor speaker outputs at o-scope)

Re: Generic PCB designs - Preamp, LTPI, FX, Power
Nice touch w/ the test points. I think your grounding will be fine. Yea, there's always V2 (or Rev2 if yer 'murican). If......there becomes a version2....I would suggest 1.5mm clearance around rectifier diodes and .75mm clearance around all HT voltage traces. Just to be safe ;-) I have some other su...

Re: Generic PCB designs - Preamp, LTPI, FX, Power
Nice work! I like those Phoenix/Weidmuller type screw terminals, too. But be sure to dab a dot of flexible acrylic nail polish into the setscrew wells....they can vibrate loose. I know this from experience. But I'm curious....did you allow for creepage clearance around power supply diodes? When you ...
