Re: Tools
Well after a bit of tinkering I can't get the KiCAD to open anything I can export or save from expresspcb, of course :D With that being the case, I'd wager that KiCAD is the best option since it's cross platform Well, let's see how much traction this gets, then maybe take a poll. If people decide t...

Re: Anticipating good things
Yea. If we can help each other regardless of platform...there's considerably more knowledge to be gained....and designs can be efficiently passed around and reviewed/critiqued/berated/stolen/corrupted/bemused..../.../...

Re: Anticipating good things/ dedicated software
I agree about using a single program. My vote is for KiCad EDA. Open source, multiplatform, powerful, in constant heavy development, very intuitive interface. http://kicad-pcb.org/ Other than that, Autodesk Eagle. A lot of guys are using it (Bruce Egnater, Engl, AmPete, original Friedman files, etc)...

As a sniveling lurker, this is the kind of stuff that's intriguing to me. Re: neatness in hand wiring- I too, react to 'ratsnests' and 'pans of spaghetti' wiring...but do acknowledge that a properly working AND good sounding circuit is goal #1. That being said, I'm of the mind 'a job worth doing is ...

Re: Cool layout or schematic reference
How the hell are you Chief, haven't seen you around for years. :D Mark Hey! Good, thanks for asking haha Been busy in the amp biz, but not doing much personal stuff. I had to chime in about that circuit....I'm prototyping something close to it, that will eventually become a product for a name brand...

Re: Why does the cathode bypass cap always use high-voltage in tube amps?
The smallest 25uF film capacitor I could find (in lowest DC voltage)...has a 37.5mm lead spacing. A .68uF 100V film cap is ~20mm L. 25V and 50V electrolytics are MUCH smaller....
There's your mojo.
