Re: musicman 212HD
If it comes down to a bad IC there are these adaptors http://cimarrontechnology.com/to-99to8-pindipadapterpn020601.aspx . At least I think they are the ones I used, mount some dip8 sockets on top and use an LM307 or such. See here... http://www.pacair.com/discus/messages/22/593.html . Best of luck, ...

Re: how cold it is outside ?
Our power was out for about 12 hours yesterday. The wife and kids had a snow day - stayed home and played cards and board games all day while I was at work. Came home to a dark cold house, couldn't play electric guitar, the pellet stove won't work when the power is off, etc. It was starting to not ...

Sounds like you've got a winner! Glad it worked out. Oh, and see my edit above about the schematic, I must've been posting the same time as you.

Re: Silvertone 4710 to Magnatone 410
John, awesome job! I'd love to see some pics and maybe even hear a clip if you're up to it and able. Did you end up using the 12DW7 or 6V6 that came with the chassis? Also, you're using the varistors that were in there correct? Too bad the chassis didn't work out, but it was pretty tight in there. D...

Looks to me like the "01" is referenced as having M6 laminations.
I don't see that on the "09" specs.

Re: Ingrid's Headshell
That's better! I would agree that its not likely veneer, but rather solid wood. The view from the bottom with all the lighter sap wood clearly shows that the larger middle section of the cabinet is a not a mitre joint, while the thinner strips you've noticed are. This suggests to me they were applie...

Re: Ingrid's Headshell
Interesting... After looking at the pics, thanks NickC, my guess is that the shell is veneered sheet goods and the edges are capped with solid wood to accommodate the profile. It would take better picture for me to know for sure.

Re: Routers
I have the Bosch 1617 and the craftsman equivalent both with fixed and plunge bases. They're pretty good all around, although I remember having to fool with the Bosch clamping mechanism on the plunge base as it was week at one point. At the time I was using these thing for hours each day. Another pr...

Re: Mahogany & Zebra wood 4x10 finished - finally
Looks really nice! FWIW there are alternatives... My "local" woodcraft sells a product called Lyptus which is supposed to be a eucalyptus hybrid that's plantation grown - so no new deforestation. It's a pretty wood, and it'll feel familiar if you're used to working with exotics. In my case, there ar...

Re: Plywood tearout
Most likely what John said, you can try some masking tape on the cut line, but that in itself can lift the fibers. Cut it upside down and google "circular saw zero clearance" for ideas. You could drop big bucks for a better set up, I have some nice stuff... And its nice, but I worked for a long time...

Re: Anyone use a locking miter joint for cab construction?
I've used a locking rabbet bit to build the Dumble 2x12 out of lumbercore with good results. It never went on tour or anything, but I kick it around the basement. In a speaker cab, the front and rear add quite a bit of strength. For plywood, I'd like to see more lock and less miter than that joint h...

Very nice looking set there, excellent job!
I love the gray.
At the bottom of the picture, I can't figure out if that's a dust mop or a pair of fuzzy slippers?
