Re: Vox Night Train Schematic
I grabbed one for the same deal. Thanks for the schematic, that will be a big help for the future!

Re: 5F4 build-wonky voltage w/Copper Caps
My next step was to install the Weber Copper Cap... Prior to installing the cap, my voltage at pin 8 on the rectifier was 253v. After installing the cap, it jumps to over 400... I think you received the answer, that voltages should fall into line when you put the tubes in. If they don't I suggest c...

Re: 5F4 build-wonky voltage w/Copper Caps
I finished this project last weekend except for fabricating some covers to fill the gaps in the cutout. My chassis came from Victoria and I got the cab in a trade, so the two weren't a perfect fit. The amp sounds great, particularly after Sam T. devised a quieter grounding scheme. Thanks again for a...

Re: Gibson GA-95 RVT
Thanks Phil, I appreciate all your help on this. Now that I know everything is ok, I'll begin experimenting with tube swaps, mods, and pedals. I have a good selection of old tubes to try out in the amp. The old amp isn't worth much (and I have about $300 in it), so there's no reason not to make it a...

Re: Gibson GA-95 RVT
I went through all the fixes and tests suggested in this thread, and improved the sound dramatically after replacing a pot, several resistors, and doing a cap job. I also checked the trannies and other components. I thought the amp still sounded thin and weak, so it sat for a while before I got back...

Re: Ceriatone Chupacabra
I'm not drawn by the EVH mystique. I heard clips of the amp and was very impressed with the tone.

Re: 5F4 build-wonky voltage w/Copper Caps
Thank goodness for these forums. It'd be impossible for me to learn if it were not for the contributors here and a few other key sites. Every project makes me a little bit better. I wish I could apprentice with someone for a bit and get a massive dose of schooling.

Re: 5F4 build-wonky voltage w/Copper Caps
Thanks for the responses, that gives me some comfort level that things are normal. rd, I didn't use a transformer bolt for ground, I used a terminal strip for the CTs and a separate ground for the green wire at point E. Is that proper? I did follow the Ceriatone layout with regard to the grid feeds,...

5F4 build-wonky voltage w/Copper Caps
I've been working on a tweed Super build and started testing the completed amp prior to installing the tubes. Everything looked pretty fair with only a couple of voltages that were slightly out of whack in the preamp tubes. My next step was to install the Weber Copper Cap in place of the 5U4G tube a...

Re: Gibson GA-95 RVT
Has the low output problem been resolved? If so, what was the problem. thanks Mike I haven't revisited this thread in a while and apologize for the delay in answering this question. I ended up setting the amp aside after my little practice amp blew and haven't gotten back to it. In the meantime, I ...

There's some beautiful work here. I'm preparing to build my first dovetailed cab for my Eagle Premium and this is inspiring.

Re: What Speakers Do You Use in 'The Shop'?
I have a small stock of extra speakers. I made up a cable with a 1/4" male plug for the amp side and it ends in two alligator clips for pos and neg. I just clip in the appropriate speaker and save room on having a cab in there since I have a small space in the basement.

Re: Singing RJ's praise
Agree... I bought the Eagle Premium kit and RJ was very helpful in securing a faceplate that I needed. I'll be finishing up the amp this weekend and it's been a very smooth build so far. I took the Premium build and added the T/B pots to the circuit.
