Re: Cross Ref a 3 Way Toggle to 3 Way Rocker??
Thanks, that's what I was looking for, and I can work with that! I'll be sure to verify the lugs on the switch when it arrives.

Re: Cross Ref a 3 Way Toggle to 3 Way Rocker??
Thanks for the feedback. The deal is done, however, and I'll use a mini-toggle - a DPDT on-on-on, which I think acts like the Switchcraft 3-way toggle. A solution to avoid accidentally tripping the switch is to conceal the switch inside an acoustic guitar battery box. I tried to fit a short frame Sw...

Cross Ref a 3 Way Toggle to 3 Way Rocker??
I'm building a custom cabinet for a customer. We agreed on speaker switching, which I've employed a few times before, using a Switchcraft guitar style 3 way toggle. I understand those 3 way toggles, and can see how they work mechanically. The idea of the switch is to allow the guitarist to switch be...

Unwanted Speaker Noise - How to Eliminate???
I am experimenting with different 12" speakers for a newly acquired Clark 5E3 18w combo. I've tried: * Fender labeled Emi ceramic * Celestion G12M Greenback * Celestion Alnico Blue * Jensen Vibranto ('69) ceramic So far, the Jensen is kickin' butt, but unlike the others (all newer), it's making an a...

Re: BFDR Vibrato Not Working... What Could It Be?
Check all your grounds. especially the one on the rca jack. I have seen very few bug that were actually bad. You should be able to test it . one side is a simple filament and should read almost like a short. What are the voltage readings? Does it light ? it if does not oscillate check or replace th...

Re: BFDR Vibrato Not Working... What Could It Be?
Since you tried the footswitch and the tube, the next step is probably to replace the roach (LDR). This is a job for an amp tech. If you are handy with amps, it's not hard at all, but if not, you'll need someone to obtain the right part, unsolder the old one, and solder in the new one. Thanks slibe...

Re: BFDR Vibrato Not Working... What Could It Be?
I tried the tube swap (thanks jjman), with neg result. The tubes glow in that socket. I double checked the footswitch with the multi-tester - unless I'm missing something - it works. I also switched leads-to-input from the switch to the amp (rev/vib). When I did this, the vib switch worked fine for ...

Re: BFDR Vibrato Not Working... What Could It Be?
Thanks - Here's how lame I am... there's a tube for that? I don't think the tube chart specifies. I'll do some research on that..Wayne wrote:If you're a "tube changer", then I would start with what you know - change the tube with a known good one. You might get lucky!

BFDR Vibrato Not Working... What Could It Be?
The only symptom I can state is this: It worked one day, then it didn't. I checked my Rev/Vib footswitch and cable with a multi-meter... it seems to function fine. The reverb responds to the switch, and I tried plugging the reverb cable into the vibrato plug - no go. My vibrato doesn't work at all a...

Re: Question: 3 Prong for a Bassman
I did the conversion last night, and it works like a Champ (no pun!). I kept the ground switch and lost the death cap, but I like the bias relocation mod solderstain mentions above. Next time I pull the chassis I'll likely do that.
Thanks again. These forums are great!!

Question: 3 Prong for a Bassman
I recently picked up a '68 Fender Bassman. Great amp for my needs. But, I'm tired of this sucker shocking me! So I bought a grounded 3 prong cord to wire in, thinking "just put white to white, black to black, and ground to PT post." Well, yeah, not so simple for this techno-boob. Below is a pic of i...

Re: ?? >> Matching Speaker Dynamics to Amp & Cab <&
That's a great ref CapnCruch... most of my questions were answered, except matching a pair of speakers handling capacity to the amp's power rating, which is covered BY KREGG above.
I think that's all I need to know before I buy a set...

?? >> Matching Speaker Dynamics to Amp & Cab <&
I just picked up a stock ’68 Bassman 50w head that I’ll use for guitar. I have a 2x12 birch ply cab, currently empty, and in an open back config. My goal is to use this rig for crisp cleans… mostly bedroom volume. I will be getting speakers this week or next, each 8 ohms, and wire parallel for a 4 o...
