Re: Need help with Vox AC4 top boost ideas
Hey fellow Aussie,
I use evatco.com.au and ebay for specialist parts.
And futurlec.com.au for general parts (resistors, caps) at cheap prices if you can wait a week or two. For transformers ... If you find a good, cheap option, please let me know!

Re: Any tricks to logging in on Android phone?
Yeah, cookies were on. It's working now though.
"Android? What is that, a type of iPhone?"
Yeah, for people who aren't fussy about things working
As you can tell, I'm not bitter in the slightest

Re: Any tricks to logging in on Android phone?
Thanks for the replies, guys. I must admit to completely forgetting about this thread after the logging-in process mysteriously started working as it should, a few days after I started the thread. Believe me, I have considered hitting the phone with a hammer many times, and probably would have if I ...

Re: Good Circuit to Cram in Bugera V5 Cabinet?
Yeah you might like to add a bright switch too - but then you'd have to use a shorter reverb tank

Re: Good Circuit to Cram in Bugera V5 Cabinet?
It's Bugera's version of a Valve Junior, it has 1 x 12AX7 and 1 x EL84, digital effects and attenuator. Any of the VJ conversions would probably work with it. There's some V5 schematics and mod info over at sewatt.com. You'll need to join if you're not already a member. If it was me I'd probably tur...

Any tricks to logging in on Android phone?
Hi,
Can't seem to get into the forum using my Samsung s3 i9300
Just keep getting password errors, but am able to log in fine at home.
Any hints or suggestions?
PS: I'm new to Android - had no troubles with iphone
So far that has been the theme since I changed phones :-/

Re: Who works on solid state amps?
I'm by no means a professional, but I have to say that I potentially could've had a fairly hard time with a friend's Vox Valvetronix 50 (12AX7 pre/DSP FX/SS power amp) It wasn't easy to get into, there were PCB boards mounted all over the place. I'm glad to say the fault was obvious and easily fixed...

Re: 7868
I have an old Hammond organ amp that uses 2 7868's. It's one of those "one day" projects.
I wasn't aware you could get new production 7868 valves (in fact I hadn't even looked into it), so thanks for that

Crack it open and have a look!
If you could post some pics of the actual circuit around the pot in question, I'm sure one of us would be able to work it out for you.

Re: 1 watt tube amp
Anybody here played with using 70V line transformers as output transformers? Getting output transformers here in Australia can be quite expensive, so this is a great option. I've successfully used PA line transformers for push-pull designs - a 2 x EL84 build, and a 50W 2 x 6L6GC Fender style build ...

Re: Rocket PT order
The standard was apparently changed to 230V +10% -6% (216V - 253V) but no one told the electricity providers I always get mid-250's here  There are some Chinese manufactured transformers for sale that are marketed as being suitable for Australian voltages, but on closer inspection, secondary v...

Re: Favorite 2 tube preamp, 2 el84 amps?
In regard to the modified Spitfire above, can someone explain if there's any benefit in having points C and D on the power supply (PI and pre-amp, respectively) at separate but parallel nodes, when they have the same dropping resistor and filter cap? Couldn't that all be fed from the same point? Sor...

I agree the diagram is not an easy one to read. On my computer at least, you have to enlarge it so much to read the text that you lose overall perspective. Page 5 makes me feel a lot more comfortable, except it has no component values  The little arrangement there at the bottom of page 8 is g...

Re: 2Watt_BluesExpress_Version1 by timohp
Whatever you do, use a power transformer! Use a pair of low voltage transformers back to back, rip one out of an old valve radio..whatever
Otherwise, all it takes is a miswired power point and you could possibly have all 240 of those volts on your guitar strings
