You can put a resistor in series with the choke to keep the voltages where they are ...
Increasing the voltages in the amp due to replacing a dropping resistor with a choke will make the amp slightly brighter and cleaner

The 68k on the mid ground lug is for the PAB level the PAB relay disconnects the mid pot from ground for the "preamp boost" ... the 68k resistor is there to set the level of the boost ... I modeled the tone stack in Duncan's tone stack calculator ... the mid dip is at a higher frequency than a fende...

Are the 12AX7 cathodes still at almost the same voltage as the plates?
If so measure the resistance from pin 3 to ground NOT to the other side of the resistor ... etc
