most of my builds are beaks and feet this amp was odd ball trannys from the 60s the ot was out of a old stereo amp running 6aq5s but being cathode bias I figured it would work it mesured out at 5k to 8 ohms with the volotage/turns ratio method, hammond power tranny and the choke was 5.6H - 295 ohms ...

I am always happy to see one of my little monsters out there in the real world making noise ,sounds like a good combo I tend to favor the 6l6s and 5v4s are my personal favorite recto.

i beleive thats an old hammond power tranny ,the original recto was a 5u4 voltage is probly too high for 6v6s but sounds like you would like 5881s in there nice cleans with a little compresion.

any question just let me know , I dont know what may have been changed inside they may have rewired the cathode resistor if you post a gut shot I will tell you if it is stock .it is probly more around 25-35 watts ,good tubes make a big impact with these style amps. cheers

yeah thats one of mine, it is a rocket style amp . that amp would have been built with 6l6 output tubes someone has been playing on it for a while I built that one several years ago . it was a great sounding amp though, one of my better builds.glad to see its still kicking around. cheers

Welcome , there is a wealth of knowledge here for research and many of us build for fun and extra money on the side. I would check the for sale section on this site if I were you but I would do your research first because the three different trainwreck amps have different dynamics. good luck to you,...

I used the 4500 ohm 40 watt output in my most recent rca35 style build and was impressed with the sound so worth the $$ . dont know about the power tranys though. cheers

I was of the opposite opinion on the fast mode,to much gain for me though i will build one with the concord mods some day these high gain amps are not really my thing though , right now Im working on a rubywreck style amp with the parallel front end running kt88s at the higher voltage from the k60 h...

I dont think an express is where to start , the super bass would make a good bass amp though 100 watt for sure , cheers chris
