Re: Visio---making striped wires?

I have been using Visio from its inception and I don't think there is any easier way than how you are doing it. I would not add the dashed lines till your drawing is completed to your satisfaction. Then add your dashed lines just one time when know it will not have to be moved/tweaked Sent from my L...

1967 Dual Showman Resurrection

I acquired this amp about a year ago. It was a total basket case. The cabinet was bare wood with the finger joint glue broken making the cabinet shall we say, very flexible. There was no hardware or front and back panels. The amp appears to have been manufactured in the first half of 1967. I was slo...

Re: Need help sourcing grounding washers

Do a search on Amazon solder lug #6 I have been getting most of my stainless fasteners - lock/kep nuts, allen head button head, 3/8 star washers etc. from Amazon lately. All the local fastener shops in town require 45min to hr round trip plus wait time on counter service. I just order ahead on amazo...

Currrent production octal triodes

I have had an octal based Tweed Bassman/Mashall JTM/JMP style head on my to-do list for a few years and it's time to get it off the list. One of my goals for any amp I build is to use the best production tubes available for the job. Yeah I know there nothing like NOS but let's face it if your using ...

Re: Fender AC power cord

Hello Colossal

I seem to recall you are a Mercury Mag kind of guy. Have you checked out the power cords they are offering?

Bitten by the UP/Hotel Hog bug need Antidote

I have been bitten by the UP/Hotel Hog bug and I am looking for the antidote. A few months ago Jelle posted his Hotel Hog layout. I had a 100 watt head that I built as the reverb channel (less tremelo) of a Twin Reverb (basic AB763 clone). I decided to implement all the changes that were on Hotel Ho...

Re: Orange/MatAmp OR120 output transformer info needed

Sorry for the slow reply but I have been hammered working on a restoration of a Webster model 80 wire recorder. Thanks to all that have taken the time to reply. I will attempt to respond to all remarks in this post. Stevem If I owned the amp I would NOT change the current transformer or convert it t...

Orange/MatAmp OR120 output transformer info needed

A good friend of mine recently purchased a 1970-72 OR120. It arrived DOA and I am helping him sort it out. I cant believe what was done to the amp over it's lifespan. I have rewired/changed/ fixed every shoddy/kluged up mess and have it working. I cant believe how loud the amp is. There is one remai...

Re: Bit of current Eric Clapton/Dumble inside info

The tweed Super/Pro/BandMaster do not have a choke input filter. It has a capacitor input filter in a Pi configuration. The choke is a 200ma choke. I don't recall the DC resistance. If you use a standard Fender 90ma 6L6 choke between the plate and screens you will not have the power supply regulatio...

Re: Triodestore or TriodeElectronics

My experience with Amp Parts Direct has been very good. Usually get a shipping notice within 24hrs of order and the parts show up within 2 days. On three occasions I didn't receive a shipping notice or any other email for a couple of days. So I called them. A part was out of stock each time that hap...

Re: AB763 KT88 Question

Thanks Mark I had just finished reading the remarks about Triode in another area of the forum when I found your post. There was a real great guy that worked for them a few years ago. He really gave me great service but when he left they jacked me around big time on a large order and I have never bee...

AB763 KT88 Question

Thanks for all the replies. Well the speaker is an EV. Also have a couple other 101+db speakers by eminence. So looking around at possible xfmr choices I favor the a431s OT and the p782s PT Dynaco iron offered by Triode Electronics After you figure in the cost of tubes and the xfmrs and power supply...

Is it Black Face or Tweed?

Seems I recall seeing a pair of Low Power Tweed Twins behind EC for a number of years. The last versions of the tweed Super/Pro/Bandmaster/LPTwin share the same CF tone stack, PI and output section(different OTs). Preamp was different in Low Power Twin. Super/Pro/Bandmaster all the same circuit with...
