I use DipTrace on my OS X machine to draw schematics and then layouts I typically do in Inkscape. DipTrace is also able to do PCB layouts.
The free version of DipTrace is for non-profit use only and limited to 300 pins an 2 signal layers on a PCB.

Re: Anyone Here Buy From Newark?
I order from Newark on a daily basis for work. They are about an hour away from where I live and work, so ground shipping is as good as ordering over night. Customer service has been great, and the website is fairly easy to navigate. About the only reason I ever use their catalog is for connectors a...

Re: Off Standby On switch
Does a tube grid mute do something that a standby switch doesn't? I mean, if you're still putting in a switch somewhere, what is the motivation for this as opposed to a standby? Maybe Im incorrect but Im still going off the assumption that the standby does no harm so if you're putting in any additi...

Re: Need Tubes?
I know this isn't tube related, but it is ENIAC related. I'm currently looking at going back to get my Masters, or possibly even PhD, in Electrical Engineering. I started thinking about something I could do that would really challenge my abilities to design and layout ICs and I thought about creatin...

Re: G&L Tribute
Assuming it hasn't been played to death by other people I would grab the guitar in a heart beat if I were you. The G&L Tribute series uses pickups made in the G&L Fullerton factory, and some of the hardware is also made in the G&L factory as well. For awhile final assembly was done in California as ...

Re: Tubes - Who Wants to Talk About Quality Control???
Just one example.(doesn't really prove anything) I dropped an old 7591a about 3 feet on to a ceramic floor.I think my heart stopped for a few seconds.Bounced three times and I'm still using it daily. That was about 3or 4 years ago. I can't imagine a jj or EH living through that.If the thin glass di...

Re: Tubes - Who Wants to Talk About Quality Control???
A lot of raw materials for just about any electronic device come out of China, especially rare earth metals and the like. I don't know the exact make up of all of the parts in a tube but I'm guessing that they do use some rare earth metals. China is no longer exporting as many of those metals, and t...

Re: Guiguang El-34's
Never heard of Guiguang. If you mean Shuguang they have been around for a long time. Their KT66s are very good tonally, but don't last as long as the originals. And don't run them above 450V or so either. Guiguang is a more recent factory that opened in China. Shuguang is somewhere in the Hunan pro...

Re: Fender Deluxe 6G3 Rebuild
So I'm finally picking this project back up. I planned on getting it done over the summer, but life got in the way. I haven't ordered any of the parts for this project yet, but it looks like I might be placing an order sometime in the next week or so. My next question involves what speaker to use wi...

Re: indicator light for stand-by status?
Are you breaking a single HT wire after the rectifier, or are you breaking both wires. If you are using a DPDT switch and only breaking one wire then you have a pretty easy way to do it. The second set of contacts on that DPDT switch can be used to turn an indicator lamp on or off. You would just wi...

Re: The lost art of common sense
All that being said, I've seen people go flying by way above the speed limit in the left lane, and well above anyone else. People like that make me want to drive in the left lane and go the limit by another car... Totally disagree with that line of thinking. Sometimes there are valid reasons to get...

Re: The lost art of common sense
I don't have enough fingers or toes to count the times I've seen people 30ft or less from a garbage can in a public place leave used shitty diapers on the ground. It's so gross!!! I could say who does it or I'd be being racist. However, It must be a cultural thing because I sure don't understand th...

Re: NFB Tap???
No matter what tap you use with the Express you will always have a signal at the 8 ohm tap. If you draw your signal off of the 8 ohm tap then your amount of feedback will always be consistent. In the scenario you mention the amount of feedback can vary based upon which tap you are using for the spea...

It looks like you have your feedback connection drawn incorrectly.
Take a look at how they applied NFB in the Fender Champ

Right now you have no ground reference for V2B.
