Re: Solid wire vs Stranded?

Yes, Floyd was mainly concerned about vibrations and simply breaking the wires while working on the amp. He is used to thinking about things withstanding liftoff.

I like the solid wire. Apparently Dumble likes solid wire. I was just wondering if there is some kind of audio advantage to it.

Solid wire vs Stranded?

I have rocket scientist friend helping me with my amp build.. Really he used to work for NASA, but he is a little cynical about musicians and tube amps. He says there is no reason for cloth covered solid strand wire. He thinks stranded wire is best in all applications. What is the advantage of solid...

Re: #183 5th Generation ODS Skyliner. Layout/Schematic

Mt.Vernon.. Yep. I think just about every state has a Mt.Vernon. This Mt. Vernon is so small the street lights dim when I get an email  And yes, eight miles from John Day. I'm building my first amp right now (Weber Vibrolux Reverb kit 6a20 HP) I'm at the completed stage where you look at it an...

Re: New Redplate

Just waiting for delivery on my new Redplate amp. I will get some clips up soon. Henry thanks for a smooth process on the back and forth and for building what's going to be the amp of my lifetime. EV for the Blackloop

Man! Out of the embarrassingly long list of amps I've tried..this Redplate is the most satisfying. I basically had Henry build me one like Garth Webbers. I loved the sound of his clips. Anyway, I'd had an old EV sitting on a shelf. I was pretty much convinced that the EV was to brittle on top for me...

Re: Shameless Self Promotion from Arizona

Those both sound pretty much like blackface Fenders No insult at all intended, they sound fabulous. They do until you put a Blackface next to them - they sound like the Blackface Fender inside your head. Side by side they don't have the shrill highs and woofy lows of a Fender. Yea, this amp definat...

Re: Shameless Self Promotion from Arizona

I got my Blackloop OD a few weeks back and I am simply amazed! The perfect amp for me. I'm still getting to know it as it is so versitile. I've been playing a cheap Michael Kelly LP style guitar with Aero Instrument ZMD humbuckers and I think Carlton and Ford are after my tone at this point. T...

Re: Fender output tranny identification

It really is'nt a seperation between two sides. It's just a groove across the center. :? I don't know what that means.

Fender output tranny identification

Hey do any of you guys know from a glance what year this Fender OT is? I'm going to put it on the sell block and I want to get an idea of what it's worth. I believe it to be a silverface 8 ohm, but I'm not sure. Somebody put this in a Pro reverb I once restored and quite honestly...the Pro sounded b...
