Re: Any interest in seeing some Dumble Tweed Deluxe photos?

Delmar, so the question I have is, were you able to get a balanced output before with the 1 meg grid leak and now with the 10 meg are not? The more I think about what the LNFB is doing the more the 10 meg makes sense. Martin, I have been reading up on the split load invertor, so basically the plate...

Re: Channel switcher PCB

I’ve bread boarded this circuit and works well. However on power on, all switches are on.
Is this normal behaviour? Kinda not useful if it is!
I’m sure I’ve done a thing wrong 🤓

Re: Copper pour as shield

I agree w/ all the above, but w/ regards to oscillation prevention.....no amount copper between adjacent traces that are of the same phase will stop them from oscillating (given that one is amplified from the other). One thing I always do is crosscheck between sch and pcb, all nets that are same ph...

Re: Copper pour as shield

I like to (successfully) separate my board grounds as im so locked in to my old ptp style. If my circuit has 4 grounds thru the preamp, aimed at each nodes filter, then that how i build pcb's. I tend yo use the standoff as teh ground nodes drop in, and pour a plane over that part of the circuit, usi...

Re: Anticipating good things

Each of the programs I’ve used required a pretty steep learn. I’ve had a crack at kicad and eagle but ended up taking he hardest route altium. Super hard learn. That’s not much help! But I have used several pcb suppliers and can comment there. The last house I used was Itead (China) real nice boards...

SSS for bass?

Every bass amp that ive played a tele thru and loved, had great tone, was a well regarded bass amp. One of my SS faves the GK RB800 is awesome for guitar, albeit clean. Got me to thinking about the Singer. Its got kinda an SVT backend, different PI and bias circuit aside. Also the Orange AD200 with i...

Re: Any Naylor Superdrive love?

Not on any pics i have. And not on the schematic. For good reason. Theyre hiss generators in higher gain.

Solid state phase inverter?

Anyone had a go at using mosfets for phase inverting? Reading and about to try some curious implementation of fets as followers. Will report what i hear, but im also interested in phase inverter use as well. I think as long as theyre not used where usable gain is being made, they could be very usefu...

Re: Capacitor rating, current over frequency

Ahhh just found another data sheet.
It scales down the lower you go, from 100khz to 120hz is a factor of .4
580ma @100khz, 232ma @ 120hz
So they are still in the same game as F&T's much larger cap.

Capacitor rating, current over frequency

Just looking at specs for these little panasonic caps ive been using. I typically have been looking at the current rating. The 15uf/450V ED series have a rating of 580ma.In comparison to the F&T i have been using that have a rating of 200ma, i figured they were just clever little fellas! But looking...

Re: Fixed bias EL84 circuit?

Man they sure didnt treat the screens with much love.
Interesting. After hammering this thing out today, zero redplate anywhere, not even a hint. They are hot tho, of course, higher volts and all. But they look like theyre behaving themselves ok. Diggin this one.
