Re: Express w/cathodyne PI & 6v6s??

I've tried it and didn't think it really worked. With the 10k stage right before the cathodyne I didn't think the power tubes were driven enough. It came out more like a blackface amp. I ended up going with this: http://chasingtone.com/dvnator/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2015/01/LocoFiasco_v22.jpg An...

Re: Park Rock Head-ish build

That looks cool Vince. Nice way to split the volume controls. Just a heads up, when you through the switch there is a bit of a pop when the bias shifts on that last triode. I've looked into ways of avoiding that (mosfet) but it seemed like more trouble than I was willing to do at the moment. And her...

Park Rock Head-ish build

I’d thought I’d post my latest build here on the chance there might be some interest in a fairly obscure Marshall amp. The amp based on/inspired by the Park Rock Head 1210/1240. For those that don’t know Park amps were built and designed by Marshall but sold under the Park name due to distribution d...

Re: Tweaking a Fender AA964

If you have a spot for it I would get rid of the fixed 6.8k mid resistor and use a 25k or even a 50k mid pot. Then you can dial it in like stock or crank up the mids for fatter, punchier sound.

Re: DvNator's TMC1

Great job on the amp Thomas! The cab reminds me of Marshall JTM but with a nice woody Trainwreck look. Very nice! Looks like a fun amp. I played one of Dvnator's wreck style amps a few years ago, I think it was a 10 watt push pull based on a Russian power tube. It definitely had a ton of the wreck q...

Re: Low wattage Plexi

Nice growl. Does it have any cleans? Is that a Lopo 1x12 cab? Thanks! It has some cleans but it does break up pretty easily. I thought about trying to tweak for more cleans but then I was going for a cranked up plexi OD sound and I think it nails that pretty well. I ended up just leaving it as is. ...

Re: Low wattage Plexi

This is a low watt plexi I built and I'm really happy with how it came out. It's basically the Mark Huss 6V6 plexi with 6F4P (ECL84) power tubes.

Re: What do you guys think about this?

This is very close to the Tremolux 6G9.

You might need to adjust the coupling cap on the input to the PI as in make it smaller. Somewhere in the .002 to 500p range like most of the best Blackface amps.

Re: Cascading channels in tweed amp

Here's another switch option. You might need to tweak a bit to get both options sounding how you like.

Re: Tone Stack Question

I've messed around with those tone controls and I think the bass control works better, or has a greater effect, if it's directly after the first stage.
