Mojotone
While calculating price, anyone West of the Mississippi might want to look at shipping really hard. I used Andy for nearly 5 years until one day I ordered two things, a raw cabinet, and a chassis. Shipping the Cabinet was $36 and shipping the chassis was $16. I'm like, well I ordered them together s...

Re: how to cover unused tube socket chassis openings?
I always do it from the inside of the chassis with the sheets of aluminum from Lowes or Homedepot. Just cut or trim in to shape, drill a few holes and use the standard 4 or 6 hardware to mount. You can even use the thin flashing aluminum and cut it with tin snips.

Re: 10uf, 1uf, .47uf/ 50v Capacitors
For the 6V6 cathode you can use up to 100V for the preamp bypass cap(s) you can use 16 volt The time constant or Xc for ANY dc voltage you can get your hand on is fine for a cathode bypass cap. You are not limited to 100V for a 6v6 or any tube, nor are you voltage limited on preamp tubes unless you...

Re: 6G3 / 6G11 Build
It depends on what you want to do with the tremolo circuit that feeds the output tube bias pertaining to the 6G3, but the major difference is fixed/adj or cathode bias. switching between the two is easy, as is building a fixed biased 5E3, or cathode biased 6G3. The plate voltage difference between t...

Re: 6G3 / 6G11 Build
My 2 cents The channels are so similar that the sonic difference between them would be minimal at best. The switch between 6v's and 6L's will give you more headroom and less breakup, but at the same plate voltage you can expect minimal differences in tone. If you are dead set on a two channel design...

Re: anyone use an IEC socket with integrated fuse? PN needed
Has anyone tried the circuit breakers that Weber sells? Seems like it would be safer, since some guy wouldn't be sticking the wrong value in (or worse, a gum wrapper). Bottom of page: https://taweber.powweb.com/store/fuseord.htm The description is a little light on details. I have and I wouldn't re...

Re: Repair Advice needed...'64 blackface bassman
My 2 cents..... Not an uncommon thing at all. I've seen similar cases where the 100 ohm filament resistors are replaces with 2, 3 or 5 watt power resistors that have the same effect on the PT when something shorts. The Schumacher PT's are unusually stout and usually can be repaired with extended lea...

Without NFB it should have been much louder than normal.

Re: Ever heard this guy. It is pretty amazing
Remember the good old days when guitars were guitars and drums were drums? I honestly can't listen to this style of playing anymore. I've seen Tommy Emmanuel 6 times, perhaps he burned me out on it.

Re: Fender IPO
If I was still investing it wouldn't be with Fender. I think they have bought up nearly every great American guitar company and turned once good names into the same old crap that is current day Fender. The word Monopoly is in full effect here, and would be illegal if anyone seemed to care. To name a...

Re: Ready to go SMPS for 15W tube amps!
Am I that only one that thinks replacing one high quality component that will generally outlast the amp itself with a few hundred other components of questionable durability is a bad idea?

Re: Removing Power tubes to cut power?
You would have to see how the pairs are wired to the OT primary to make sure, but most of the time pulling two inner or two outer works(Fender, marshall etc) Also remember that it will double your output impedance when you remove two. A switch can easily be installed to lift the cathode ground of tw...

pem nuts
Just clamp some pem nuts to the chassis side of the flange with a large vice grip or small vice at a fraction of the cost. I use them on almost all builds and have never had one come out.

Re: mini z
If you are an el84 guy, it's possible to borrow from the Z/GA5, EVj, and few other so called 5 watters and add features like a pab boost, bright switch, low gain pre switch, etc. that will make a very versatile screamer of a single ended el84 that does have nice functional cleans for a 5 watter. I'...
