Add an HT Fuse?
While preparing for a 5E3 build, it brought back a question that I’ve been meaning to ask for a long time. Why do a lot of guitars amp circuits do not have an HT fuse, while others do have them? If I’m convinced that an HT fuse is a good thing for a 5E3, or any other amp for that matter, I would nee...

Re: Plexi treble pot does nothing
Glad you posted a pic. Your tonestack treble cap looks like a 3.3K instead of a 33K.audiosalvage wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 12:07 am I replaced the cap and it has some effect, but I guess I never realized how little the tone controls have on the shaping.

Re: Plexi treble pot does nothing
FWIW, I recently came across something very similar with a friend’s handwired Deluxe Reverb. I found that the amp’s 250pF tonestack treble cap lost connection to the 100K slope resistor/plate terminal. In your amp’s circuit, that would be the 500pF tonestack treble cap to 33K slope resistor/cathode ...

Re: USA Source for a 5E3 Deluxe Chassis?
Agree with the Hammond enclosures if you have the ability to machine the chassis. Bingo! I do have the ability and experience of once drilling through a blank chassis. It turned out ok, but not perfect. It was a great learning experience, but it also was a PITA. Then again, maybe I should change my...

Re: USA Source for a 5E3 Deluxe Chassis?
It's far, far quieter. Filtering is better ground scheme is better, and the heaters are elevated. Having hand issues and upcoming surgery so progress has been slow but here's the cab in process. Sounds great with 2 10" speakers. 20231214_214706.jpg Thanks, very interesting info. Your cab, or is it ...

Re: USA Source for a 5E3 Deluxe Chassis?
It's a simple circuit to do PtP with a small Hammond box. And easier with a turret board or card. 20230425_140637.jpg Love the gold! I see some classy tubes. What might be hiding under those heat shields? I bet the amp sounds good too. But my eyes cannot get comfortable with true PTP, ha ha! How do...

USA Source for a 5E3 Deluxe Chassis?
I’m trying to decide if I want to do another amp build. The low powered and small 5E3 circuit looks very interesting. I would like to install the chassis in a head cabinet. I don’t want the vertical mount style and would prefer a horizontal mount. I’ve seen some examples of the standard Deluxe chass...

Deluxe Reverb's Treble Control Not Responding
Tomorrow I'm picking up a DR chassis from a friend and I'm going to try to diagnose and repair the issue with the Normal channel's treble control that is not adjusting the treble level at all. The tonal signal is forever dull. The Normal channel's Bass control seems to be working OK. Amp's reverb an...

Re: Stable AC Voltages For Testing?
I just pulled the trigger on an old school Staco 3PN1010 in decent condition. The title of the Ebay ad was goofed up:

Re: Stable AC Voltages For Testing?
A 10A would be big enough, and much cheaper. Yeah, you’re right, but the next step down from this particular vendor is 5A! The deal is decent considering the shipping is included with the price you see. And I like the LCD that shows voltage and current at the same time. I’ll look around a bit more.
