Re: Gathering input for big bottle rocket build
I gotta tell ya, I don't think I'll be building any more rockets without that reverb circuit...it's just that good to my ears. It's very transparent...and subtle...compared to most other reverb circuits that I've tried. It doesn't at all, seem like an "add on". I ended up using 2 33uf's for my power...

Re: Steve Hackett concert
Cool! Lots of new music to check out!...from folks whose ears I trust!
Hackett live would be one off my live show bucket list, no doubt. Must've been great!

Re: Single turret board rocket reverb build
Thanks, guys! That seems to be the question, RJ. I first tried a huge long decay unit and experienced some serious "farting out" at higher volumes and higher verb settings. The client is trying a medium tank and is supposed to report back the results. I suspect that we'll end up using roughly the sa...

Single turret board rocket reverb build
Well, here's the result of my attempt at a "everything on a single turret board" style build. Overall, I'm pleased with it. I really like the fact that there isn't a single wire run under the board. I got a bit sloppy in some spots...the layout evolved as I progressed. Sound-wise, I'm very pleased. ...

Re: Project for a First Build (Did search, but I may be stupid)
It sounds like your heart is set on the express, so you might as well dive in. My second amp was an express. the first was the ol' ax84. The express was a fantastic learning experience. It keeps ya honest! Oh, and btw, all these guys who are making great, informed suggestions...trying to maybe steer...

Re: He shoots...he scores!!!
All great questions...i'm gonna crack that box open tomorrow and explore and see what's up. I do know that the HT is pulled via a cable with one of those gadgets that goes between a tube and it's socket. Crap, I can't remember what those are called. To be honest, i've been so giddy about the bugle b...

Re: GZ-34 and the Rocket
Would a copper cap be a quick way to test SS rectification...at least for "feel"?
One of these days, I'm going to take some crapped out tubes with metal bases, some UF's and zeners and build a few different ones for this purpose.

So......where were we? Oh yeah! So, did both Neil Young and Rick James use Lockard amps?

Re: Is the aluminium chassis that important in an Express?
Sorry bout that. When I posted last, I was kinda in a hurry...and not very clear. Both of the expresses were built with practically identical aluminum chassis'. I don't remember the exact thickness. The madman amp was so much more sensitive to every thing (lead dress, component type, etc) that I did...
