Re: Mini Liverpool - Sound Clip
I used Zippy's Hamer SuperPro Monaco (sweet guitar) and pushed the amp through my open back 2-10 cabinet... So I haven't got anything professional gear wise but I am hoping with time I figure out how to get a decent representation of the tones the amp puts out. I wasn't too displeased with the clea...

Re: Another Express project
So in other words there is no correct way to install? :) Well, there is a "more correct" way, but you seem to have stumbled into an "alternatively acceptable" method. If you look at "approved installations", the gland nut is on the outside of the enclosure. "Code? We don't need no stinkin' co...

Re: Another Express project
none of them are bright today. WTF. Happened to me once, too. Spent a few days swapping parts. Whew, that first cup of coffee didn't work. I was reading down the thread and thought I read that you spent a few days swapping PANTS.  Yeah, new strings are a beautiful thing. I used to chan...

I, too, favor 2-10 combos. That's a nice find.
G'luck with your project.

Re: Guitar pickup output
So i started lowered the pole pieces and it sounds much better now... I think I'm definitely heading in the right direction as the old pickups had the right sort of tone but just needed extra clarity, these pickups have that clarity but sound like they're missing the upper mids atm. So I think if I...

Re: Express Combo Build
But wait! I recall extensive conversations about the Express being too sensitive to even sit atop a cabinet - and you're going to put it in a combo?
Let us know how that works out. The concept looks great.

Re: The most interesting amp builder in the world....
I enjoyed learning yesterday that it was Imperial Pint day at my local brewpub. I ordered an IPA, and it came in the bonus glass. Good news comes in 19.2152 oz packages! Hmmm, that means 6.66 glasses in a 128 fluid oz gallon  Whoa, you made me get out my slide rule for that one... ...

Line out >> Satellite amp.
A 200W amp may not be as heavy as two 100W, but it feels pretty close to it. I know I'll never consider working on another one.

Re: Liverpool Amp - Xtra Small Platform
Now I have a max B+ of 180 volts which ultimately comes down to about 70 volts on the plate of the first preamp stage. To my surprise, it still sounded good and was still pretty loud... gives you an idea of how far down in voltage you have to go for a power scaling unit to do it's thing. The EL95s ...

Re: DeOxit BLAST!!!
And here I thought it was just me not reading the owners manual after I soaked the whole area down try to clean some pots. Funny, I just looked once more at the image of the can and noticed "Flushing Action" highlighted on the label. Truth! P.S. and OBTW: Probably NOT a good idea to smoke whi...

Re: DeOxit BLAST!!!
Yepper, it's all too common with this type of product. I used to use products like this when I was a Navy electrician - contact cleaner, water displacement sprays, etc. I think I finally just got over the overspray issue, and started hosing equipment down with the stuff. Who knows, maybe there's a n...
