Re: My take on Eric Johnson's Steel String Singer #005

This looks like it was a really awesome project, beasleybodyshop!
As a huge Eric Johnson fan, I really dig the tones you got out of it.
Where did you end up getting the chassis and faceplates made?

Relay transformer is Hammond 166G6.
I have that same relay transformer I plan on using for some future builds this winter and spring. Did you tie off or ground the green/yellow center tap wire? It looks like you tied it off from the photos but I wanted to double check.
Thanks!

Re: "New" 102 ish FET options ...

I'm planning on my own #102 build shortly and am curious about that treble bleed you've added to the OD. What are your thoughts on it? I know some ODS builds, like #94, have and adjustable one installed.
It's something I'm considering adding to the one I am going to build.
Thanks!

Got my silver chassis and boards last week. They're fantastic! Combo cab is on order too.
Taylor, I've PM'd you about getting another set too!

Re: Dumble video/sound clip reference, real Dumbles only please

I've always been fascinated by this particular amp, probably more so than any other SSS, because it was the only SSS originally built as a combo and with tremolo. I really hope who ever owns it decides to send it to someone who can restore that circuit to working order. Seems like a pity to see an u...

Re: The new dumble modded bassman build video series... begins!

Well, just got my first ever high voltage DC shock... powered it up with the speaker, was playing, sounded good, went to toggle the bright switch, heard the difference, went to toggle it back off, and got hit hard... I shut it down and made sure it was safe, but know that the rectified DC is near t...

Re: Rotary Impedance Switch Source

I'm working a AA864/AB165 Bassman hybrid and I would like to be able to switch between the 4/8/16 ohm speaker taps my OT has. Maybe use three jacks? That's my back up plan... One 8 ohm jack for the main speaker (it is going in a 1x12 combo) and two 4 ohm taps if I want to use an extension 8 ohm cab...

Re: Rotary Impedance Switch Source

Speaking of rotary impedance switches, can anyone recommend one for a Blackface/Silverface era Fender chassis? I'm working a AA864/AB165 Bassman hybrid and I would like to be able to switch between the 4/8/16 ohm speaker taps my OT has. Normally I would use the one listed on Hoffman's site, but thos...

Re: Deluxe Reverb replica build

Looks awesome, Martin! Might I ask where you ended up putting your PI and preamp grounds? After being out of amp building for a while during the pandemic, and while I dealt with some kidney stone issues, I've finally started work on a new project. I've been putting together a hybrid AB165/AA864 Bass...

Re: Dumble SSS - history and info

Here's another one... SRV playing the national anthem at the Houston Astrodome in 1985. He used a dual amp setup with King Tone Counsoul and another large Dumble head I can't exactly identify. Anyone know exactly what model it was? It looks either like a "tubes up" SSS or maybe some type of blackfac...

#1 reason I decided not to go for a Ph.d... My days of wanting to write research papers are long behind me. I lost enough hair just working on my Masters as it is.

1979 ODS on Reverb

Saw this pop up on my Reverb feed this morning. I'm not sure if it has appeared on here before, but wanted to share it just in case. 1979 ODS 1x12. No serial number is listed, but it appears to have come from the pre-PAB era since the footswitch is only for the OD. No separate master for the OD eith...

Re: Tweaking My 102 Amp: A Massive Resistor Makeover

This has been a very fascinating thread to read over! Thank you Gil and Jelle for sharing your insights on this!

Can anyone recommend any articles or other reading materials discussing distortion produced by resistors? I'm curious about learning more on this subject.
