Re: Recent Find

Get the duo working, a nice turntable, and play some vinyl through a pair of Klipsch Heresy speakers-you'll be in audio heaven. Just happen to have a set of Klipsch speakers in my possession already! They have been GREATLY underutilized in conjunction with the cheap ass modern junk I have now.lol :...

Re: Recent Find

I actually considered fixing it and giving it back. They are really nice people. The gentleman never actually used the amp himself. He acquired the unit from a departed distant relative himself. He actually called me back to tell me that he thought he might have the preamplifier somewhere in his sho...

Re: Recent Find

I appreciate all the suggestions and I will consider them all. I wont be butchering this fine piece of gear. The more I think about it, it would be cool to have a tube powered stereo system. I don't have to rush into anything, so I'll start with sprucing the old girl up. Thanks folks :D

Re: Recent Find

I saw that on Ebay as well. The voice of reason. Makes sense. I'll recap the thing and move it. Not as much fun, but makes more sense.

Re: Recent Find

Thanks for the reply Pops....I agree with your suggestion, and that will probably be my first move. I am however a guitar player, and I know I'll never use the amp as it was intended to be used...I look at it and see two builds waiting to be started. On the other hand, it seems a sin to mutila...

Hi folks been laying kinda low lately. ..recently stumbled across an old Harman Kardan Citation V Power amp. A nice old fellow gave it to me. It utilizes two pairs of 7581power tubes. I've only been building amps a short while so I've never seen one of these before. The unit has a bad can cap accord...

Trying to get started on a cab before the chassis gets here.....dont want to booger up my pretty Curly Cherry! Dra...

Re: Status Update and a Few Parts for Sale

Glad your feeling better rj.....I have been inactive around here myself. I've had some family matters that had taken priority over my hobbies. I am however, itching to do another Wreck soon. Either a Liverpool to complete the trio, or an Express for my son so I can get mine back  By the way, th...

By the way, I just retubed 2 Marshalls with the Mullard reissues, and they sounded pretty nice....the price is right too.

Re: Best Tubes for Express

Wow, this thread is still going? Just for the sake of completion, I figured I'd post up where I wound up with the amp.....I have Siemens (RFT) EL34's from Bryan. Great tubes. I also was lucky enough to score a good used set of Mullards. I keep those around for special occaisions. V2-3 are NOS blackp...

Damned lightning fast, spindly fingered whippersnappers. Just kidding, this kid is the real deal. I enjoyed his playing a lot. Good stuff Mikey.

Re: Express rebuild

Must be Express redo season. I recently went through mine as well. All I really did was clean up some lead dress, sheild the input wire, and went through a dozen or so 12ax7's till I found one she likes (previously had a RCA blackplate 5751 in there). Now it's much quieter and has even more gain. Lo...
