Re: ODS #77 for auction

Jeeze, couldn't even spring for some matching mini toggle switches..... Guess this amp got a Skyline Update and an added Ratio control, maybe he changed out the Mini toggle when in for service/update? Hard to tell if HAD added the Extra Loop.... Its possible though, seems the orig owner had a consis...

Re: Ford through a TwoRock last month

Thanks Greg. I'll check them out. What are you using in the Gold Top you're playing in your Quinn and other amp demos? They sound GREAT. Thanks m8! The Goldtop in the Quinn vids are WCR Darkburst pups, they're great pups but I've since sold the Goltop and got a Prariewood Hardtop 58/59 Burst based ...

Re: Ford through a TwoRock last month

Harmonic Design Humbuckers (RF quoted saying they were the best pickups he's ever heard). Any opinions about any of these? I'd go with some Jim Rolphs, RF uses these in quite a few of his guitars, and AFAIk the Sakashta. Or, if you've got a fat budget for pups, I'd go with the Throwback 101's, they...

Re: anyone tried Cold clipping third stage (in a Dumble)?

The ripper topology is a really hard circuit to make sound great yet like other known ODS topologies as this circuit hasnt really been divulged in detail yet. I think there is more going on than what's known. Imo, I think you'd be better off cascading 1 clean preamp (skyline or classic derived) into...

Re: dumble type presence on a fender

yes, global nfb for a 763 fender deluxe. do I need to make any other changes aside from simply switching the output transformer leads? grid stoppers look to be bigger on the dumbel for example. 1k5 vs. 3k3/5k1. for boldaslove: the grids on the first stage of the reverb are shared so I am not sure w...

Re: dumble type presence on a fender

Like the LNFB on V1? Yes Mark I think he's talking bout the Global NFB Presence circuit. No? Its possible, pending on what Fender amp/circuit, you'd have to reverse the leads on the OT, and add some parts, but its most definitely doable. Also, the LNFB circuit (like whats used on 124, 102 ect.) can...

Re: Best route for first D style build

Where can I get some plans for some these you mention, particularly the 3rd generation? Look in the files section for detailed layouts. On another note, you can get an idea for different voicings by modding the tonestacks on your old fender before making a decision on what built you want to do. Jus...

Re: GREAT Dumble being played w/Dumble cab

There seems to be certain artifacts to the sound of this amp that make it great sounding, but I think it was probably voiced for an specific individual. Its just itchin to have the right player play through it.

Thanks for posting Jim...

Re: Is it possible to build #102 from one supplier?

Here's my Cents: Use these type for any Carbon Film resistors (Slope resistor, R/J, Mid, Grids on both Pre and Power amp). they're: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/KOA-Speer/CF1-2C224J/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMu61qfTUdNhG0Rk5nhjx8e%2FniWbiPbwdC0%3D Why do you like those specific carbon films? Do they make...

They're NTE 630 Capacitors, which are most likely rebranded "CDE's"

Re: Is it possible to build #102 from one supplier?

I never seem to get the PI trim pot right, I seem to always end up with the wrong ones too small or weird adjustment methods, what's the best one please for D builds? I will also put an external OD trim pot in this build. I use these: http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=201XR Also, I u...

Re: Lets hear some FET clips???

Greg are you using the camera mic to record that? Sounds great! Yeah Tom, I use a Kodak Zi8 Handheld camera for all my vids. For the Quinn Preamp vids I used a small Mackie Mixer and a SM58, about 6 feet back from the cab. I paid like $140 for the Camera, Extra battery, Tripod, and charger on Amazo...

Re: Lets hear some FET clips???

Here's my Quinn 183 preamp, with the FET, PAB, and OD ON using a Dumbleator and the Power amp of a 6l6 100w Bluesmaster, Sounds like a dimed Marshall Plexi IMO:
