I have looked all over just out of curiosity, and no luck. Even archive.org is failing me here. I'm hoping someone here has it downloaded and can share it. Can you share that schematic?

I was about to use a push pull pot for the regular type 3 PPIMV, the one with the pot between the grid leak resistors, but then it occurred to me that a one of those "no load" pots that people use for guitar tone controls would do the trick. Turn it all the way up and it's completely out of the circ...

Random thought.. anything weird happening with the switchable fet? Even with the input grounded at the jack, that could be feeding something into the signal path if it's engaged.

Seems like something in the output section... It almost sounds like a really loud transformer hum. Also, the preamp voltages seem high.
