Re: MM output transformer for express
I was also looking this type, Edcor asked 49$ shipping to UE, Heyboer wanted 250$ with shipping (set), so it's rather expensive. Keep in mind that there is 22% VAT, but I'm not sure if you have to pay it, I've made little research and found that it's often random ... Look at Tube Town, they've got s...

Re: Sound City 200 on fleabay
Anyone got info about those Partridge irons ? I've found some nice EI 114 iron that look the same, thought they're some PT, definitely not for tube amp, but could be re-wired. Anyone know where to buy this plastic thing on which coil is wired ? I do not know how you call it in english, couldn't find...

Re: Have You Ever Been Shocked Working On An Amp
I was once. It was my first build, on pcb. The amp was off, but there was still some voltage on caps, I wanted to pull off the pcb and touched mass by one hand and + by other. Funny thing, my hands starded to shake and I didn't knew what is going on at the begining, though, it didn't hurt, lol. But ...

Re: EL84 Tube Shoot Out/ Rocket
I picked up (10) 6P14P-EB's for $20 without boxes sometime last year, figured I'd be able to at least get a matched pair out of them. If nothing else they'll make great start up tubes if I ever get this rocket build going... Anyone wanna test some tubes for me? Bruce Don't be shocked if you don't. ...

Re: EL84 Tube Shoot Out/ Rocket
If anyone want Russian NOS 'EL84' as commonly 6P14P is voted, be sure that you buy 6P14P-EB (EV,E) that is millitary version. This tube is damn good for 2 reasons: a)cheap, in some places in Europe, you can get quad for about 15-20$ b)long live, and really hard to kill There's also 6P15P, but it's m...

Re: loading 4x6v6
as mentioned this is not hifi, technically it would be good 3.8-4.2 probably, but who cares :P in most guitar amps power tubes (and preamp too) are often put to it's limits and everybody seems to be happy, cos it's all about the TONE ; ) I would suggest to try wi Ra that would fit both for quad 6v6 ...

Re: "Chandler" brand tubes?
Well you've got to know that 6P3S is like 6L6, basically 6P3S-E are the 6L6GC, in datasheets 6P3S-E you will find that max Va is ~300V as far as I remember, however, there's no problem in using them with higher voltage (400-450), the E in name means that they're 'special' or 'military' versions. I'v...

Re: Rocket/ac30/dc30 like build. OT?
Hi guys, I'm new here so at the beginning i wanna say hello to all of you, now the question, I was just wondering, if the Magnetic Components makes good trannys ? I'm thinking about Fender style 50W 4.2k primary for my construction (not a wreck, but something wreck inspired)
cheers
