Re: S6424 to AC15/Rocket conversion
That looks really interesting! Thinking of maybe going more along those lines now, just tweaking this build a bit for a bit more of the sound I get when it's fully cranked, rather than a complete redo. Thank you! I'll let you know how it turns out

Re: S6424 to AC15/Rocket conversion
Thanks very much! Just getting back into this again, need to brush up, thank you for the pointer. A while ago I had bought one of Merlin's books (as well as Richard Kuehnel's), forgot what a great resource he is after searching for a synopsis on paraphase PIs. http://www.valvewizard.co.uk/paraphase....

Re: S6424 to AC15/Rocket conversion
Well I drifted away and found myself back again.
Does anyone have an idea of what's going on with the output of the PI into the output section? Thanks!

S6424 to AC15/Rocket conversion
Hey guys, I've always wanted an ACXX, and have been looking for a project, so I'm going to change up my S6424 clone. I was planning on using the Rocket Preamp, and the AC15 PI/output/PS. Sound okay in theory? The OT for the S6424 has a 6k input impedance, so it would be fine if I wanted to switch to...

Re: 6v6 Plexi Speaker Choice
I've got a 30 watt scumnico in a 17w amp, it's been fine cranked, sounds great.
The S75-PVC scumback might be cool to check out too, but it's 25 watts, I'd ask Scumback speakers if that's a conservative rating or not.

Re: Single Speaker for 100W amp
I might build a DR504 soon, and it'd be nice if I could use it for that too, but loud.

Exactly where my first thought was.
Didn't know if anyone had experience with the >100W offerings from Eminence or something.

Single Speaker for 100W amp
Anybody have anything they'd put in a 1X12 for a Superlead? It's at like a '67 spec right now, might change it to '74 or something, but I've always been partial to the H magnet sound, but I'll try anything. I live in a small apartment, and a 1x12 is all I have space for, and I hate to see it just co...

Audio companies in the Chicago/Milwaukee/Madison area?
Hi Guys, I may have interest in relocating to the Chicago/Milwaukee, possibly Madison area. I currently work at a radio/stereo company in Boston as a EE, and would like to stay in audio, albeit amps, hi-fi, speakers, recording equipment, etc. The only company I know of that has facilities out there ...

Re: Effect Pedal building
Has anyone painted on one of Small Bear's powdercoated enclosures? Have an orange enclosure, was going to do like a black screened design on it. Would acrylic paint be good, and then a clear lacquer? I've heard powdercoat doesn't really allow stuff to adhere to it.

Cliff, send me a PM. I live in the city, and have always admired your guitar amp works. I'll give you a tour and as much advice as I can on the housing scene.

Re: Refret or new neck?
The neck has some cool wear, like a weird stain occupying the first fret position that looks exactly like the stains on Clapton's Brownie, like below. Really makes me lean towards refretting. I also cracked the headstock almost off at one point (there's a story there), and had a really good repair j...

Refret or new neck?
I've got this guitar which is basically my blood and soul. First electric I owned, bought it with my own money. 2000 Mexican Strat. Upgraded pickups, Callaham tuners/bridge/tremolo setup. Neck feels like home, because it was the only guitar I played for so long. NOW, the frets have considerable wear...
