Finished amp heads AC30/Trainwreck sty;e amp heads

Finally got around to finishing the cabinetry work for these two identical amp heads of my own design. Had a heart attack a year and a half back and pretty much stalled a lot of my projects but now am back in the garage getting work done. 27655394_10210851324988320_8581724776967696912_n.jpg 27503654...

Thanks. Point to point is rarely tidy looking.
The yet to be installed switching wire harness assy and subsequent wire dressing end up looking a little less messy once installed.

Re: Under 1.5 minute Rocket circuit style amp demo

Very nice. I am curious how your boost work, is it like the boost on a dumble build were the tone stack is bypassed? Just working on a trainwreck build myself (Liverpool) . Cheers Guy Keep the iron hot! Not related to the Dumble tone stack bypass, just a simple cap switched in or out on the cathode...

Re: Under 1.5 minute Rocket circuit style amp demo

Both videos are good I remember that older video too. I kept the photos of the two amps you built great looking amps. I see on your old post the photos are gone. Mark Thanks. Yes, the photos are gone thanks to Comcast retiring its ftp feature for all clients including me without notice. I was promp...

Partial gut shot

Not 100% complete at the time of this photo but close enough. Not a full chassis view but most of the components are visible sans panel controls and switches. Vacant 9 pin socket for future mods etc. [img:2048:1536]https://scontent.fsnc1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/t31.0-8/12764538_1020546411183135...

Here is a rear shot.
The inside is not quite as tidy as the builds often seen here.
This amp is wired true point to point.

Re: Reissue Gibson Fuzz-Tone FZ-1A Petition!

I bought 2 of the original Maestro fuzztones when they first arrived at Westchester Music near LA airport where Ren Ferguson was working in the mid 1960's. These were the 3 transistor circuit with the 2N270's. They really aren't that special and they were certainly short on sustain which was a real ...

Re: And he plays guitar well too

Just watched the Aja video and was trolling for some info on Skunk Baxter when i came across this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GRkCyvIz70 Interesting man. Good grief! I had NO idea. This is remarkable stuff man. I'm only about 20 minutes and I got to finish it later but it's stunning. Musical ...

Re: No Chokes in Wrecks

I think it is quite possible that he simply found it a way to cut costs without having the tone take a considerable hit. I spoke with Ken on two occasions and he was very kind and helpful when it came to answering my questions about AC30 designs. He was quite pragmatic in our discussions about amp b...

True point to point

I've built my take on the Rocket and use true point to point construction throughout the build. Not quite as tidy as using the terminal post board construction however. My own layout for all components and it is very quiet, as free from hum that you can get with a conventional tube guitar amp circui...

Re: Wiring

Over that last 3 decades, I've used mil spec teflon coated multi strand silver plated copper in many of my amp builds. No sonic issues and it is easy to strip with thermal strippers It is difficult getting it to stay where you'd like to have it stay. You can also run into some small amount of mechan...
