Re: Saw Jeff Beck last night...
Becks' tones on Pork Pie are incredible. The changes in tone produced by pickup changes, picking technique, volume manipulation, etc...are masterful. The other thing that makes that song for me is the harmony played by the keyboards. Those chords, especially in the intro...mmmmm

Re: Saw Jeff Beck last night...
Just thinking out loud... Could be that he doesn't want them blossoming into feedback. As he has gotten older, I have noticed that he likes the notes to maintain a more pure sound as they sustain. His recordings have quite a bit of reverb/delay that tends to 'boost' sustain while maintaining that pr...

Re: Saw Jeff Beck last night...
I love Jeff's playing...who doesn't? I know he recorded most of his latest album with the Tweed Champ. He works the volume knob so much and that makes me wonder what he would sound like with an Express. Surely, he has played through one in his travels. If so, I would like to know what he did/didn't ...

Re: Non-musician builder?
I think you already answered most of your questions by simply asking them. In some way you are asking if this particular builder will build an amp that satisfies you. If it bothers you that he doesn't play guitar then I would guess that his amp won't make the grade for you because you will always be...

Re: Jeff Beck RR Hall of fame
Mr. Beck is surely my favorite. What a technician and MUSICIAN. He has the most idiosyncratic right hand in the business. It is married to the Strat and the way he simultaneously plucks, controls volume, tailpiece and bar is amazing to watch. The Ronnie Scott's DVD has some remarkable moments. Check...

Re: G Major + D'Lator unity gain...
I run an M-One XL and a D-Two in the parallel loop of my Fuchs. Works wonderfully. I have experienced the same loop degradation issues, - no matter how the send/return levels are set, with a serial loop configuration. The bad part is that many effects don't work well in parallel. Most time based eff...

Re: best tube source as far as burn in?
I asked the Lord to SPAM ME 3 times in the past 3 months. Nothing, nada...So I agree, the Lord does work in mysterious ways. The only thing that is not a mystery is that I won't give my money to a guy that can't even be bothered to send me his price list. Joker in my book.

Re: Possible 4x12 incarnations
What didn't you like about it?I tried the "Amplifier Directivity Modifier" using the foam in front of the speaker and didnt like it on a EVM12L Thiele cab together with my #124ish clone.

Re: Possible 4x12 incarnations
I haven't read the explanaton for the foam thing, but I have spent quite a bit of time placing microphones in front of speakers in a close mic situation. Something that I'm sure many of us have done. My results indicate that there are a lot more highs coming off the center of the cone vs the edge. A...

Re: Peavey Duece VT for a #124 HRM build?
Thanks for the response guys. It's appreciated. I'll move forward with the Peavey if I can make the right deal with it's owner. I didn't model any specific Dumble serial number, I never have and never will. I tweak and tune until it sounds the way I want it to. I'm a new guy here, but I've read a lo...

Re: Power Tube Biasing and Headroom
Ok.... Here's a real question concerning headroom. The room is crap, the drummer is too loud, you cant hear the vocals.... What do you do? The first temptation is to bring up vocals right?...... wrong...... That's the first step towards loosing the mix, your baby sitting the room, you have started ...
