Rocket Master Voume

Hey everyone, I looking into building a rocket, most likely with a 6V6 power section. While I don't want to ruin a classic amp, the lack of a master volume concerns me. The friend I'm building it for will be using it for both solo practice as well as gigging. I am trying to decide between a pre-PI M...

Re: Dumble tone stack explained (in 60 seconds)

one of the best reads in a long time...thanks!

I've been trying to find a way to describe the way the tone stack on D-style amps for a while and then here's this just sitting here.

Re: 220K/150K plates

For what it's worth, I am still not sure I understand what was in the amp before ad what is now. You talk about stock set up... which was? Hey Gil, Sorry for the lack of clarity. Before I was following the standard d'lite layout, which has 220k/150k/180k/120k RN65D Dale plate resistors going from v...

Re: 220K/150K plates

Are those values different than what was in it before and did you change your cathode resistors as well? Riiiight, forgot about that part. I just changed the cathode resistors to match v1. Sounds good, but the carbon comps are just noisy and not as smooth...I'm going to switch back to the Dales, st...

220K/150K plates

Hey everybody, I just put in the 220K/150K symmetrical plates for v1 and v2 into my d lite 44 with verb. I used riken carbon comps. I'm in love with the cleans. Very sparkly and not as 'tight' (in a good way). The OD is interesting, much more american/fender-esque in the break up, much more distorte...

Re: TW Chassis + Combo Cab

I'm a little late to this show, but you can also do an ala-matchless style cab like the few I've done with the rocket circuit. That a fine looking build. Would you happen to have any layouts of the chassis or cabinet? I think I would prefer the knobs on the front rather than in the rear facing up. -j

What sort of tools do I need to drill the holes myself? Also what thickness should the metal be. Aluminum I'm guessing?

Thanks,

I've never heard of this before...Does it go in between the chassis and the boards?

Re: TW Chassis + Combo Cab

Great, thanks so much Selloutrr. I think we will probably hang the tubes underneath for size and economy, unless I should be concerned about microphonics or anything like that. I've seen some pics of TW combos so it must be doable.

You're in SoCal? I'm in la myself.

TW Chassis + Combo Cab

Hey y'all, I'm looking into building a TW rocket for a friend. I wanted to know what size chassis would be best to fit it all in. I'm not concerned with matching the original specs by any means. We are trying to save a buck wherever we can, so the cheaper the better. We're planning on dropping it in...

Re: 1x12 Combo Recommendations

Thanks Mark! The more I dig up the more it seems like that is the perfect amp for what this guy wants. I've always been more partial towards 6V6s over EL34/84s, but maybe I just haven't heard them loaded in a good amp. I read about some members making the switch...is there something special that EL'...

Re: 1x12 Combo Recommendations

thanks for the info, guys I like the idea of a tweed 5E3...I'll look into that further. I checked out this video for a top hat super deluxe combo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKjA276LcDk I really like the sounds coming from this amp. the 12ax7 in v1 and cathode bias seem like unique nuances as we...

1x12 Combo Recommendations

Hey everybody, I recently got the pleasure to build an amp for a friend. he wants a 1x12 combo, and named liking blues juniors. I am tempted to just clone a BJ with better parts and maybe a modified fat switch, because I know he'll like it. But I wanted to ask if there were any other builds I should...
