Re: 300 watt output transformers
There are a few options : From Italy, InMadOut : http://www.inmadout.com/T-output.asp From Tube-Town, Germany: https://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/tt-dr405-hiwatt-style-outputtransformer.html A few years ago when I built my Hiwatt DR201 clone, I contacted Heyboer and they could offer a Hiwatt replacem...

Re: Need tips on using interstage transformer - phase inverter
Fender Musicmaster Bass Amp (Silverface), Fender PS300, Fender PS400 + lot of old radios from 30-50's.. Plus the ones mentioned in the previous post. I've built the Weber AB200 myself and used it for 8 years now.

Re: Hiwatt preamp
If you check hiwatt.org , you can see that there are no specific "DR504" preamps. The Hiwatt preamp was used in all models, and changed some over time + there were some custom preamps. I'm not sure which of the preamps the Reeves uses.

It should have a plate voltage ~700V if it's working as designed...That amp is a wet dream.

Re: 4 x KT88 Bass amp ?
Ok I'm starting to get it.So for this^^^, what are the output options? Would you go straight to the board? DI box inbetween? What options would balanced vs. unbalanced give you? i guess you could go to another power amp, but you're getting output tubes sent, as well If the line-out has the proper l...

Re: 4 x KT88 Bass amp ?
Ok so say I have a 50W Fender head, I've been running into a cab...standard fare head. I would want to : 1. Be able to run the amp by itself through a cab via it's speaker outs(done) 2. Bypass the amp's power section and run it through a separate SS power amp 3. Run the head through a cab, via it's...

Re: 4 x KT88 Bass amp ?
I built a Hiwatt DR201 clone in 2011, you should be able to get the correct transformers from Heyboer. The power supply is "dual-rail" using 2 bridge rectifiers so you will need a PT with 2 HV windings. Since I'm in Europe I ordered my transformers from TubeAmpDoctor in Germany, don't know where the...

Re: A high plate Hiwatt?
The Hiwatt DR201 and DR405 runs with 700Vp and 400 Vg2, so I guess that that's how it would sound like. Hmm, I knew that the DR201 had a voltage doubler in the power supply but I didn't know the voltages were that high. Cool. So I could build a DR201 with 2 power tubes rather than 6. The KMD transf...

Re: Talk me out of a 100 watt Hiwatt build.......
I am going with the Heyboer Hiwatt iron... I just wonder if 100 watts is a bit much.. but also agree that the 100 watt might be the definitive Hiwatt tone.. But then again, I am not necessarily out to make a replica... I am interested in any ideas on taming the brightness a bit.. warming things up ...
