Re: Channel switching – opto isolator?
Oh I should also say, those VTL5C1 optos... I discovered cheaper makes.
The main idea is to select signals to shunt to ground. But if I can use a silent relay then I don't mind signal passing through it.

Re: Channel switching – opto isolator?
I may have done. I remember (hazily) trying all sorts of things. Perhaps the relays I used were simply not very good.
Voodoo Labs use "gold contact" relays... Whatever. But even in a high-gain setting, they're silent.

Re: Channel switching – opto isolator?
It's been a few years, but I could never get relays to act silently.
High-gain setup.

Channel switching – opto isolator?
I need to take the next step and build a two-channel amp.
I see Soldano use VTL5C1 optocouplers – four of them. They're not exactly cheap.
Any suggestions for fast, silent switching methods?
CMOS any use?

Oh, what to build?
I have an old Selmer Stadium which was cut and butchered before I got it. Nearly every resistor and capacitor was either noisy or leaky; even back to stock it sounded... meh. The power amp (2xEL84) and P.I. are in a separate enclosure from the preamps. So. On the preamp assembly I have 4 noval socke...

Re: Reverb Transformer and matching tank
Thanks everyone.
I'm fixing this amp for a client, so I think it comes down to the question:
"Do you want to wade in reverb, or swim in it?"
2-spring or 3, 2-spring or 3, 2-spring or 3....

Reverb Transformer and matching tank
Replacing a reverb tank in an early 80s Fender Twin Reverb (new Blackface, 135 watts ultralinear.) The tank is missing. I'm assuming a 4AB3C1B tank will work fine, but I'm wondering if there's any geekery surrounding the 'best' tank for this coupling tranny. The transformer part number is 022921 Any...

Re: Mystery Output transformer
I was already leaning toward the idea of shorted turns, based on what I perceived as wild jumps in turns ratio. But is there a rock-solid method?

Re: Mystery Output transformer
RG, I'm afraid my brain can't keep up. Let me get something straight. **If** the secondaries were wired separately, we wouldn't see continuity through all four wires, right? I'm getting readings through all four, suggesting to me that this is a tapped OT. Am I getting the lingo right? Did you mean, ...

Re: Mystery Output transformer
Katopan, this is a replacement OT. Push-pull. Someone stuck it in there years ago.
