Re: No More Rob Livesey Site?

Hey Niki,

Sorry for not getting back to you, it's true I don't log in as often as I used to. We're imminently moving house and business, so it's madness here.

The site looks great, thanks for all your effort.

The torch has been passed, long may it burn.

Cheers,
Rob.

Depending on the overall size, I can host them.
Google drive/Dropbox can be used to exchange the data.
Let me know, if that's ok.

Re: No More Rob Livesey Site?

Hi Guys,

The site is actually gone now. I have left where I used to work and the site was hosted there. I have a backup of everything, so if someone wants to host the archive then I can arrange to get the pics to them somehow.

Regards,
Rob.

Re: Amp Builders Europe.

Hi,

Two guys spring to mind. Jelle Welagan, a member here, just Google welagan amps. Also Tommy Cougar of Mystic amps, but not sure if he's building amps at the moment.

Good luck,
Rob

PS, just seen your budget, that won,t cut it I'm afraid.

Re: V1,V2 and V3 tube choices ?

@ the OP: Premise #1... a list of nice old stock tubes already in hand...so use them first. Chances are overwhelming that the tones will be better than new production stuff unles thee old stock tubes have seen way too many hours of previous use. V1 is easy...go to the Bassman roots, RCA. 12ax7a sho...

Re: V1,V2 and V3 tube choices ?

Thanks for all the input here. I spoke at length with a good friend yesterday, he owns Dumble #0155. Partly on his advice, I went back to the beginning, the basics, and went through each component in the signal chain, one at a time. It was worth it! After checking each part, here's what I have chang...

Re: V1,V2 and V3 tube choices ?

Thanks for the replies chaps. TM, I have no idea ! I'll have to ask Tommy Cougar who built the amp. David, thanks for the info. I looked at my Bugle Boys and couldn't see any markings at first, but in the end I did find some codes. The right angle triangle precedes a numeric code, so it looks like t...

V1,V2 and V3 tube choices ?

Hi chaps, I'm going to experiment with tubes in my 100w 6L6 HRM. As you probably know from experience, this could take hours, if not days! So, I would like to ask what you guys are using in preference, just to get me started. The tubes I have are as follows: Amperex Bugle Boy x 2 Telefunken flat pla...

Re: Who has Dumble #059 now?

I agree with Mike. The seller hired the Intermediary to represent his/her interests. From a legal standpoint, this is a matter between the Seller and the intermediary, and as such I do not see how the new owner is a party in this matter. The legal papers support my view. However... One could argue ...

Re: why does everyone still put an FET input on builds?

Great Story Rob, Robben is a real hero of mine. Which model did you base your Mystic on? I'm originally from Leeds by the was so used to play regularly at the band on the wall in Manchester at the start of my career. I used to love the Apollo too, I played there with Stevie ray Vaughan in the 80's ...

Re: why does everyone still put an FET input on builds?

I once saw Robben Ford at the Jazz Cafe in London where his tone was dreadful all night (yes, I said that!). Turned out he was plugged into the FET input by mistake and didn't spot it ! I took a pic of it just so people would believe me.

My Mystic has no FET input, just a plugged hole.

Re: Who has Dumble #059 now?

How is the new owner of the Dumble any party in this matter? Hi Jelle, Well, it wouldn't sit very well with me personally to know that the amp I had bought for a great deal of money had not actually been paid for, and the third party who brokered the deal had run off with the money. I'm not sure wh...

Re: Who has Dumble #059 now?

I guess Phil Winfield might not be a victim, for all we know he could have received the amplifier and given his money to Maverick Music and the problem could just be between Maverick and JM. Phil Winfield IS Maverick Music. He's not the victim, he's the perpetrator. He took John Mayer for a ride. H...

Re: Who has Dumble #059 now?

John Mayer has more Dumbles than anyone, maybe he had another Overdrive Reverb he liked better, I don't know. That's the amp there at Maverick yes. I just wonder who bought it. There are two victims here I think, John Mayer who sold it and the guy who bought it. Phil Winfield is the man in the middl...
