Re: 2nd Gen Build
Thank you! I have not used the Jupiter caps before. As the Spragues get harder to find in stock and always more expensive, these seemed like they might be a good alternative.

Re: 2nd Gen Build
All good with the smoke test and forming the caps. Put my startup tubes in and biased the amp. All functions are working. Tone stack is not super effective, but I think that is just the design. Reserving tone impressions as I only played briefly and at low volume. But does strike me as more raw soun...

Re: My take on a 2nd Gen ODS
Hi Matt,
Some of those solder joints on the jacks look a bit dry, but may just be the photograph. Have you tried inserting a patch cable in the fx loop jacks?

Re: A SSS Build
Hi Glenn, I'm excited to watch this build! I wanted to also drop you a note to thank you, because seeing your post reminded me I forgot to order those doohickeys for my two Erwin chassis.

Re: My take on a 2nd Gen ODS
... 2. Is there any benefit to switching from the 2nd Gen Deep Switch to the to the version from the 4th/5th eras as this design does? From trying it when this amp would work, I was not that impressed with the 2nd Gen's function. ... You will find most 4th Gen amps that still have a classic tone st...

Re: My take on a 2nd Gen ODS
I've rolled several tubes but keep getting the same result, OD goes in and out, then out completely. I'm starting to suspect I have an error in the relay wiring. The PAB is working fine, but I would appreciate another set of eyes on the OD relay board I'm using from Taylor at AN. From left to right...

Re: My take on a 2nd Gen ODS
What program do you use to draw your circuit board layouts? Corel Draw? Now, don't laugh... PowerPoint. I've done faceplates with it too, just need to save as .pdf. No judgment from me since I still use Microsoft Paint for most things! I do need to look at Powerpoint now. There are some facep...

Re: My take on a 2nd Gen ODS
Matt, do you have a scope? If not, a meter set to measure AC might help, black probe to bus bar bar and clip the red probe to trace the signal at input jack and then after the coupling cap for each stage in the preamp. You can use a phone or tablet as a signal generator to send a sine wave in. Good...

Re: 2nd Gen Build
Thank you and yes I am pretty excited! Always fun to tweak these amps to dial them in. My long term plan is to build a low plate classic after this then a bluesmaster. Keeping everything close to stock in the beginning. At that point I will have a better feel for each amps character. Then I will loo...

Re: My take on a 2nd Gen ODS
Looks great Matt! Did you run that V2a cathode wire like that intentionally rather than looped around next to the V2b plate?

Re: 2nd Gen Build
Looks great! Remember to add the 150K from the FET as its part of the dropping string. If you don't your voltages will be higher than expected Great point, Ian. I'll solder the B+ for the FET board but won't connect the input and output yet. Right now I just have some clipped leads soldered in wher...
