Re: He's Gonna Get It !!!
I missed the ebay item, but from the sound of this thread, it's ok to list clones as long as they are not Trainwreck clones? How are the TW clones different than others?

Re: Who can make a 15-w ODS
If the Ceriatone OTS head you have is in the original Ceriatone cabinet, you can save a substantial mount of weight by changing it out for a lighter box. When I assembled the Ceriatone OTS kit and built a pine cabinet in the Dumble style to house it, I was surprised and how much lighter it was over ...

Re: Dumbleator clone question
Thanks for the replies. I've always read that the dumbleator is very quiet and transparent. The hiss is not a big deal but it is there. It does not get worse with with the OD channel. Removing the C-lator from the signal chain removes the hiss, of course the tone suffers but with an effect plugged i...

Dumbleator clone question
I've just assembled a Ceriatone C-lator kit and although it seems to be working correctly, it is not as transparent as I was expecting. With all the controls dimed there is no hum but there is a hiss, is this normal?
I've post photos and appreciate your input and advice.

Re: Yet another speaker cabinet advice post....
A trick that Carvin uses to keep their cabinets light is to use poplar plywood. It is MUCH lighter than other plywoods I've seen. I have a SWR 2-10 cab and a Carvin 2-10 cab (both ported bass cabinets) and although the Carvin cab is slightly larger and the speakers in both are about the same, the Ca...

Re: Standby
On pages 92-99 of Merlin Blencowe's "Designing Power Supplies for Tube Amplifiers" there is a history of standby switches in guitar amps, the myths about them, cathode stripping and soft-start switching designs. Basically, the contention is that "a standby switch has no significant effect on the nor...

Re: Blues Junior Input jack beauty ring
The problem with the original PC mounted plastic jack is that it gets torqued around with the plugging and unplugging of the guitar cord. tightening the nut to limit the jack movement only works for a while and then the jack's plastic threads strip and the solder joints on the PC board begin to fail...

Re: Blues Junior Input jack beauty ring
I’ve installed the Billm mods in a number of BJr’s. The PC board comes out easily after the blue and brown OT wires are slipped off their connectors on the PC board (then the board can move down and out). I used to add shielding to the plastic input jacks but now a Switchcraft jack goes in every tim...

Re: TWIST LOCK CAP SOLDER HELP!
A 60 watt iron will do it, even a 40 most of the time, or you could just clip the leads on the old cap, leaving enough to join to the new cap. Of course, I would never do that , but I've seen it done. It seems to work well.

Re: First Build - should i do champ kit? what the best source?
Dave Hunter's book and the Two Stroke amp design are both great. You are correct that you will learn a lot more by finding the parts and layout the circuit yourself, but the Weber "Maggie" kit available now. It is a Two Stroke clone with a couple of refinements to the original design. I built a 5E3 ...

Re: 1/12 closed back Cab for Dumble??
Search the Dumble Discussion forum for "Dumble 1-12 closed back cabinet" The cabinet I built first had a JBL D120 but now has an EV speaker (which I like better). I'm very please with the bass quality from this enclosure. It has received high marks from other players and producers (along with the OT...

Re: Dumble 1-12 closed back cabinet
Anyone have a photo of that back panel? Has anyone A/B'ed the plain and ribbed backs? The Thiele TL806 building instructions allow for a wide margin in interior volume. Perhaps the ribbed back offers some acoustic variation beyond adding increased surface area. Adding the ribs would reduce the possi...

That's great news about the D120. I have one that I hope will go in this week. I look forward to comparing notes.

Re: Dumble 1-12 closed back cabinet
The cabinet is 10" deep (same as the head cab) with an interior depth of 8", subtracting the depth of the 3/4" baffle and 1/2" back panel + the set back of the baffle to allow for the grille cloth and piping. The Ports are 1/4" walled ABS, recessed 3/8" into the baffle with 4" extending into the cab...
