Re: Gibson GA-15 RVT

I'm a complete amatueur, but those readings sound good on the transformer. You had reverb before you worked on the foot switch jack, so I think that's where your problem is. If your amp is the same as the one that I worked on, the first preamp tube should be a 6eu7. From pin 7 there is a .0047 coupl...

Re: Gibson GA-15 RVT

If I remember correctly, the reverb transformer had a couple of spade type connectors which were loose and wobbly and tested open on a meter. I decided that I had nothing to lose, so I carefully cut the brown paper covering away until I found both ends of the windings. The connectors were detached f...

Re: Gibson GA-15 RVT

I repaired one of these for my son's guitar teacher a few years back. His amp was missing the foot switch. I replaced the two rectifier diodes, electrolytic caps, and repaired the reverb transformer. Since the reverb was previously working for you, I would look again at the work that you did on the ...

Re: Plate supply after Pi filter/choke?

Funny you should bring this up! Attached is a schematic for the amp that I just finished with a choke input and loosely based on the rocket. I used the rocket topology but with a Liverpool tonestack and a 5879 pentode for the second stage. The amp sounds great!

Re: New Amp - twreck inspired

I'm thinking about adding send and return jacks between the tone stack and the PI. Is this a good idea? I thought I would experiment with that and possibly build some sort of d'lator down the road.
Thanks,
Pierre

Re: New Amp - twreck inspired

JJman, The diode is part of the arc protection network taken right out of Merlin's book on preamps. I'd have to re-read that section to remember the concept behind it. I'll try to get a picture when I have time. 10thTx, Thanks for the schematic. I've seen a lot of your work on the Hoffman forum. Any...

New Amp - twreck inspired

Hello all, I just finished a wreck inspired amp and thought I'd share the schematic with all of you. The amp sounds great and is incredibly loud! I'm not a player, but my two sons are so I'm trying to have them put the amp through it's paces. I'd like to thank everyone for the wealth of information ...

Re: Help with Reverb/Tremolo wiring Gibson GA15-RVT

I'm attaching a schematic for the GA15-RVT that I drew after tracing the circuit of one of these that I was repairing. It was drawn with express schematic. The schematic that is commonly available on the internet was not even close to the actual circuit. Hope this helps.
